My favorite would have to be Spirited Away. It was one of the first Miyazaki films I watched and I was hooked from that point forward and saw almost all of them immediately after.

My fav is Howl's moving castle, the animation of the walking castle reminds me of Machinarium. Also, Christian Bale and Billy Crystal are perfect in their voice roles.

It has to be Nightmare Before Christmas. Not animated in the traditional sense, but unbeatable music that will pop into your head for years!

No need to think about this one... The Canadian 1981 film... Heavy Metal. Not the 2000 remake, thank you.

If we are going with hand drawn movies, easily The lion king. It was the movie that got me to want to be an animator...though I never became one(theres just no local jobs in my area...or any area outside of hollywood). If CGI...I can only say Pixar...I just can't single out a movie of theirs as best...as they haven't had any flops with my opinion. But studio ghibli is my japanese pixar as well, I can't think of any movies that would compare in awesome storytelling, and thats not sucking ups sake either.

Gotta say Lion King.

Just gives me great memories of my childhood probably, and that circle of life song still sounds batshit crazy

Spirited Away is the top, but Akira is a close second for what was accomplished in its time.

Akira is my favorite animated film, followed by Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Though any Miyazaki film can be a contender for second place. The Transformers Movie from the 80s deserves mention too.

It might be silly, but my favorite animated film is Kung Fu Panda. I thought Dreamworks did a great job fusing Kung Fu films and Hollywood. Not to mention, the animation style at the beginning caught my attention. Funny, stylish, and overall a good underdog story.

I watched Akira when I was 12...haven't watched it again in years. But, it has stuck with me. Any anime that can resonate for that long and still make you remember it fondly for 10 years plus, has to be a favorite.

Love Miyazaki's stuff (notably Nausicaa, Mononoke, and Spirited away in that order) but currently I am watching Highlander's Search for Vengeance (animooted), Sealab 2021, and Lone Wolf & Cub series (live action).

My favorite animated movie would have to be monsters inc! That one really holds up for me over time. Maybe Aladin from when I was younger, too...that one is a classic. Where the wild things are was very...interesting. Definitely a strange movie, but quite enjoyable to watch. Lots of awkward silences, kind of like Being John Malcovich...
