Won't the customer base be offended by the moniker: "Special" Edition?

Nah, the customer base will see it as an appeal to them specifically.

Has anyone played Resort? How much better is it than the first?

Definitely worth picking up. All the sports it takes from the original are improved greatly, and the new games are lots of fun. In fact, they might as well not bother including the original. It's worth it for the sword fighting alone.

I'd say it is worth it for the frisbee golf alone! It is unbelievably addictive! I missed out on frisbee golf when I was in college so it feels like being in college all over again :)

Showdown is the arguable the best mode on WSR.
Waves of Miis coming at you. We seriously need a full game like that.

Frolf and Showdown are the two modes that pretty much make it worthwhile on their own. Also the "Air Sports"

I wasn't too interested until I got it as a gift. I immediately went out and got a second motionplus because I was having such a good time. Swordfighting with 2 players gets rowdy! :-)

Not to a store though. I'm sure the box has "Not For Resale" on it.

There's an ESRB logo on the box, so that's for the US.

This has been sold as standard in the UK for a year now

Seriously, this is the only version of the Wii you can get in the UK. Well, apart from the Black version; which also comes with Resort and a Motion Plus in black.

That's not bad.. it's kinda like gettin the normal SKU for $99. This deal oughta be made the norm though b/c once the Arc comes out ppl will experience a sudden lapse in memo-Wii.

Arc is certainly not going to be a threat to Wii. It's too similar to sway customers who have already been attracted by the brand name

Though ultimately software will be Arc's problem. Natal's too.

I was going to go on big rant about how casuals suck and are screwing up the game industry, but considering the amount of bs that "gamers" put up with, it doesn't seem to be that bad.

yea cause thats all who plays on the Wii....Casuals....which is why games like "No More Heroes", "MadWorld", "The Conduit" and the like don't sell a SINGLE copy.... ¬_¬

Wow. You just named 3 games that were financial failures, proving my point.

Are you Joystiq's resident idiot?

Their publishers actually named them all as financial successes, tho barely. Im certainly not a casual gamer and the Wii is easily my console of choice. 30 Wii games, 20 GC games and 50 Wiiware/VC games later and i have too many games to play, nevermind the plethora of games coming out this year.

so what you are saying is if a game does nothing in sales numbers then it must suck? riiiiiiiiiight....there are plenty games that don't break a million units that are GREAT games....

and careful with the personal attacks dude...they will get you banned....

Could explain part of the Wii's supply problem, if Wal-mart has been diverting their stock to build these bundles.

Not if these are the only Wiis going to Wal-Mart. I'd imagine that out of all retailers, Wal-Mart gets the vast majority anyways.

Pretty good deal, but shouldn't be an exclusive....you should be able to walk into any store and get this bundle.

This is not that great of a deal, the Wii was on sale for $150 a few different times during last years black Friday - Christmas season.

So now its permanently at sale-price and you're buying an excellent game with it. And you're calling that not a good deal?

I wasn't aware this was particularly special, this has been the standard Wii SKU since Wii Sports Resort was released in the UK...

This was also the case for the limited edition Black Wii SKU here in the UK.

For a second I was annoyed that they do this not too long after I finally bought a Wii. But then I remembered when I bought mine from Wal-Mart it came with a $50 gift card and minus my employee discount I made out better than this deal anyway.

Darn I just bought a Wii too. But I paid it off mostly ($150) in built up credit so I can't really complain. Now if it were a black one...needless to say i'd be pissed

I just went out and bought this bundle. But i bought muramasa the demon blade and metroid prime trilogy two weeks ago. i was hopeing a good deal would pop up and it did. hell ya. i am buying Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and the Fight stick tomorrow. and i pre ordered the Monster hunter tri W? classic controller pro.

haven't opened it yet. but i find it appalling that Peeps in the UK get this package every and its standard.

But boi-o-boi do i love Nintendo.

Ehh, personally I didn't really like the newest one. I played it for about a week and that's about it. I mean don't get me wrong, there are a lot of interesting mechanics though it's just repetitive. You get to the core of everything after a few hours of playing. So, my complaint at heart is, is that it's just too simple :/
