New 360 Elite bundle includes Halo 3: ODST and Forza 3 for $300

Are you preparing to buy your first ever Xbox 360, and are looking for the best value for your money? Alternatively, did your Xbox 360 just commit ritual seppuku, and now you're looking for a SKU that comes bundled with some good games? Both parties are in luck -- Amazon recently added a listing for an Xbox 360 Elite Spring 2010 bundle, which includes Halo 3: ODST, Forza Motorsport 3 and a 120GB hard drive for just $299.99. According to the listing, this bundle will go on sale next Tuesday, March 9 -- the same day the $399 Final Fantasy XIII bundle hits Amazon's virtual store shelves.

We're extremely excited about this news -- not because it's a great deal (though it really, really is), but because it's allowed us to break the world record for "Most Times Using The Number '3' In A Single Headline." Thanks for making this dream possible, Microsoft.

I'd say the best racing game is Burnout Paradise, but I have Forza 3 also and it aint too shabby either.

Wait, so this bundle with an Xbox360 Elite and 2 games is CHEAPER (by $100) than an Xbox360 and Final Fantasy XIII? Wow screw the FFXIII bundle. Just get this bundle and FFXIII for $50 less.

@Raiki It's not the same 360. The FFXIII one has a 250GB HDD, another controller, and (I know it's not a big deal, but it's there) a faceplate if you pre-order. Some would say another controller and 130 more giggle bits is worth the extra dough, depending on your gaming interests.

If Natal is built into the console, you'll have to have it pointing in the exact direction you and your friends want to play in or will be sitting in.

When it's a detached device, it's much easier to move/adjust it where you need to.

Again, Ballmer, Schappart and everybody have been saying this since it was announced. *Geesh*

Now, there' will surely be Natal pack-ins. No doubts there. But, simply put, Natal won't be IN the console.

...or a bundled Natal.

However, after Engadget's post today of Ballmer(?) talking about 'new form factors', I think I'll wait it out just a little bit longer.

Its a good way to move out the old stock, the previous bundle I got was moving out the Falcons to make room for the Jaspers. This may very well be a indication of things to come.

do you really care if your game console is a little bit smaller? if you don't have an xbox yet, that means you don't have halo, so with ODST you also get the halo 3 multiplayer with all the maps, ODST + firefight, and forza 3. if these games look good to you i would really pull the trigger now. plus, from reading ballmer's full statement, i got a feeling that he could be talking about something different than just a slimmed-down xbox, maybe something closer to a dedicated media center/tv streamer that's built around the xbox ecosystem.

My reason for waiting is to see what the 'new form factor' offers. I'd feel pretty foolish and angry if I pulled the trigger now and by this E3 Microsoft announces a 360 Slim that comes with 7 controllers, a terabyte hard drive, built-in WiFi, a free subscription to both Live and Netflix and it ran PS3 and Wii games also.

That seems like the price of the previous XBox 360 Elite Bundles.

... but with better games.

I'll be looking to this if my own 360 makes the sacrifice.

Me too :( I got that bundle too and got Forza 3 and ODST (for my son, lol) separately. This would have been a killer bundle around the holidays, but oh well.

It's interesting that this is happening at the same time as Final Fantasy XIII and just before Splinter Cell and Alan Wake come out.

Microsoft is very aggressively going after new adopters...

i mean i already have ODST but i want forza and could easily get credit for the extra copy of ODST.

I was in my Walmart this morning here in London, Ont, Canada and they actually had 10 of these bundles already for sale, I even said to my wife i wish they had that when i bought my 360

Pfft. I'll jump in when the bundle is AUS$50 cause i only get that much per fortnight to spend anyway.

And mine too. I have been wanting to get a 360 for a while now and I don't think i can pass this bundle up. I can now get into the Halo and Forza series.

I hope these have Jasper chips in them, I'm tired of Microsoft recycling old hardware in new bundles.

Do want, but want get unless either: I get more work, or something in my near future costs a lot less than I think it will. Which would be sweet...but isn't likely at all.

Yeah, I did, too . . . back in 2005. It's been five years. I mean, surely we've gotten our $100-150 dollars worth out of the system in that amount of time?

Wow, yeah it has been five years. Its hard to believe my xbox 360 is THAT old. I wonder how long Microsoft plans to keep the xbox 360's lifespan? I wouldn't mind seeing a new one soon like in say two years or so when DX11 cards are out with enough rending power to do tessolation in real time @1080p with some aa and with 60fps or so.

(FYI, even the GTX480 only does 40-50fps in the heaven benchmark /w tessolation so that's not available yet! and definitely not at reasonable to include in a console price points for any pc flamers out there)

Forza 3 is an amazing game. the online system is deeper than any racing game i have ever played. and its realism is just about the perfect mix of sim and forgiveness.

i havent played ODST, but if nothing else it is worth having in the bundle for the Reach Beta.

ODST is cool. It's a neat spin on the Halo formula and it comes with the Halo 3 multiplayer disc that contains every map pack made!

Plus, like you said, that hot new beta entry.

HMMMM Microsoft is really lookin to push some last minute consoles. They are about due to add something new to the 360.

What? Wait, this bundle is actually very good.

That's actually probably the best bundle they've ever come out with. There was the Fable II/Halo 3 bundle, but both of those games had already been out for a full year. These games are barely 5 and 6 months old, respectively.

Plus, I'd place Forza 3 higher than Fable II and Halo 3: ODST has all the Halo 3 multiplayer AND the Reach invite. I mean, seriously, if you didn't own a 360 yet, why WOULDN'T you pick this up?

That bundle also had Microsoft selling off old Zephyr units too.

Damn, this is a tough call.

I was going to wait for the inevitable 250GB Halo: Reach bundle, to pick up a 360.

But this... is a great deal.

What to do, what to do...

I also really have to give Microsoft credit for coming up with great bundles, and pushing bundles as a whole.

Something I wish Sony would do more with the PS3, especially considering the great lineup of games at their disposal.
