My room-mate is getting this day one so lucky me. He takes forever to beat games so I figure I will blow through disc one and then I'll be set. LOL

Oh, fudge . . . I didn't realize Pokemon and Final Fantasy came out the same day, was under the false impression that Pokemon was hitting in May. That changes a lot.

Which to play first then? I don't want to gloss over FFXIII, but I know I'll be putting 100+ hours into Pokemon through the rest of the year. At any rate, I'll be getting FFXIII (PS3) and Soul Silver this week.

Same 'week' rather, not same day. Still, know I shan't be finishing Final Fantasy XIII in five days.

I want Yakuza 3 and Final Fantasy but I have so many other darn games I haven't finished playing yet or beaten. I'll see if I can just hold off on buying them especially since I just bought a new rifle. I'm sure Yakuza will go down in price after a few months . . . it's easier said than done but I'm going to force myself and show some restraint from buying games, especially with God of War next week. So, if I buy anything this week it'll simply be Final Fantasy 13 but thats kind of 50/50 at the moment.

You and most others. Think I'm still sitting on 13 games in my backlog, plus a friend threw Assassin's Creed 2 and Mass Effect 2 at me to play through, AND I wanna pick up Pokemon next week. Oi.

Why would you have 13 games sitting around that you haven't played yet? You'd save a lot of money by waiting until you would actually play them to buy them, as the price goes down over time...

@Levi

I know it doesn't make any logical sense but it's like an addiction. I'm just as much a collector of games as I am a connoisseur of playing them and thats probably the same for Bbob. I'm trying to break the habit and finish the games that I have before I buy anymore, it's just really hard for me to show restraint in that area because other than guns, movies and ufc/boxing ppv's gaming is one of my only hobbies I spend money on. I don't drink or go out and party and it's one of the few things I treat myself to outside of time with the family. Basically, my three vices in this world are Games, Starbucks and Fried Chicken. Those things are really hard for me to turn down. I read a lot of books but I never get that urge to buy a book every time I'm in the bookstore like with games.

TL;DR I can say for me it's because it's an addiction and it's one of the few things that I spend money for on myself. I'm trying to reign it in though because at this point I'll never beat every game that I own.

I've always tried to avoid having backlog problems, mostly by limiting my intake to 1 game a month. Also helps keep the expenses in order, and work my way through any potential dry spells that emerge (because there's always something worth playing that i had to forgo in the past that i could pick up in a lull).

I've got an extensive backlog:

17 PC games
4 Xbox 360 games ( I don't own a 360 and don't have access to one anymore)
1 PS3 game (going to be buying a PS3 in the near future)
6 Wii games (8 if you count Metroid Prime Trilogy as 3 games)

Plus a few 360 arcade and wiiware games I haven't played. Stupid, dumb steam sales keep adding to my backlog at an exponential rate.

Awesome week for games -- getting FFXIII for PS3 at midnight launch and probably going to get Yakuza 3 as well if it's there.

Plus, Blazblue PSP, RE5 Gold Edition (does it include the DLC or no?) and Final Fantasy II on VC is just full of win

And my backlog is HUGE -- talking about games I didn't play in my childhood folks. Just now got around to StarTropics

Depth of mechanics, not as much. Stuff introduced in Ruby and Sapphire is still more or less the limit (abilities were introduced in R/S/E, right?)

The only thing that has been added really are the online mechanics, and the Underground, but neither of those really affect the battling.

I guess that's enough to give it a go. I do like the concept of integrating a pedometer/VMU into the training. Plus, I'll need a new DS game when I finish up Spirit Tracks this week.

Pokemon came out on the worst possible day for me. Sunday is when i have to return to college, so i won't really be available either at home or at school to pick it up, since the flying, SEPTA riding, and unpacking always take a lot out of me anyway. Amazon will have to do, but since there's no shipping on Sundays, i won't get it until Monday at least, probably Tuesday.

As much as I would love to have Final Fantasy in my collection, it would be added to my backlog, and there's no telling when I would play it. I just recently finished the God of War Collection, and I see no point in starting/purchasing a new/used game with GoW3 next week. Because of this, the purchasing of any type game this week has been put on hold until further notice.

I'd be interested in playing some more Sam & Max if it can be confirmed that most of the "jankiness" has been smoothed out. Season 1 on the wii was very load heavy, had volume stabilization issues, and would at times cut off dialogue mid-sentence.
