haha Windows 7 owners getting so exited over a more stable OS. Something Mac owners have had 7+ years ago, how cute.

OS X is more stable than Windows 7? I can't remember the last time the OS caused my system to crash. It's almost always something third party, and with gaming coming to OS X in a big way like this, expect the same. When Vista first came out, Nvidia drivers were responsible for an absurd percentage of BSODs. Now pretty much one of two things is going to happen for OS X. 1.) Nvidia (and ATI) are going to have to start pushing out new drivers optimized for the more games that come out on the Mac like they do for the PC, which means you get to enjoy the fun that comes with installing improved stuff that does nothing that screw up your system (like the newest 196.75 drivers that are frying cards) or 2.) You get to keep your old stable drivers, and lose out on optimizations. It's a catch 22

Yeah, since when was OSX stable? Nothing against Macs, but every time I use one at a friend's house I always have to deal with dumb bullshit like Finder crashing.

People, people! There's only one way to settle this:

Buff Banners and Rocket Launchers at 20 paces!

(Personally, more targets in TF2 is a good thing for me!)

@KEK
OSX has had Expose, Dock, and Spaces for years now while Microsoft only began implementing similar features in Windows 7.

Who cares when you get something, as long as you get it!

@Tann
If I may give an unbiased opinion, I've been a Mac user for years now and only have good things to say. However without my PC I just couldn't get serious work done. I use my Macbook for more leisurely things like browsing the web, editing photos, and using torrents.

Yep, that's the Steam Play part of it. By having the game on your Steam account you can download the appropriate version to any computer.

I think that they finally realized that crossplatform gives them more money, that Windows exclusive (XBox360 can be called a embedded version of Windows).

the first step done OpenGL port, ¿PS3 next?

I am most happy that my library of Source-powered titles will be playable on my Mac without a re-purchase. Sometimes, I don't want to be sat at my desk playing games.

This is why Steam roolz and Direct2Drive droolz.

This should go a long way towards getting broader support for Mac games as well as increasing availability for games that already are published for Mac. It's just a shame that Apple doesn't really support most of the freshest graphics hardware.

Well, if more devs start supporting Apple then they're probably gonna start putting better hardware in the machines and making it more affordable to get a gaming Mac. A lot of people prefer the ease and security of a console rather than a gaming PC - not that I'm one of them - but Mac would do well to target that audience.

I just hope that this will cause publisher to put more games on Mac, and Apple will stop grafting the Video cards onto the motherboard so they are more upgradable.

Why hasn't Apple capitalized on this market with the App Store? It's kind of a shame really because you know at the next Apple hoo-rah, Steve is going to say something like:

"And not only do we have new magical hardware, we also have magical software! You can now buy full Mac games right through iTunes! It's MAGICAL! KNEEL BEFORE JOBS!"

Well, the games aren't coming from his loins. So...you know, he can't act like it's his next gift to civilization.

The iPod and iPhone...he built those prototypes with his own two hands and feet.

Eventually they'll probably try to lock down their Mac platform the same as the iPod and iPhone. Then the shit will really hit the fan.

Well, Microsoft does have XNA, and with it Indie Games.

And there really are no restrictions on WM 6.5 or their desktop OS.

so.,.. yeah.

True, but they do have a review process for titles created with XNA - and it's not guaranteed that your game will get past it and make it onto XBLA. This is no different to the Apple app store.

Very different for XBLIG. Apple doesn't have anythig like that.
