Man, only one month on the market and it's already getting a steep discount. This is one Amazon deal I'll be passing by.

Didn't they just run a similar deal on mass effect 2?

Now, I hate to jump to conclusions...but that's a pretty steep discount. Anyone who plays it, how is the userbase?

Having started playing MMOs such as EQ and DAoC back in the day, I have to say this game bores me to death. It is all instancy. It doesn't even feel like you're playing a game, but jumping from room to room. The space combat was fun but I only lasted during the beta and wasted money buying the full game and haven't really played it since.

Way to piss off the existing user base that payed full price even more than they already are.

Good thing I learned my lesson from Champions and didn't buy this, Cryptic can't be trusted.

Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice, shame on me.

Agreed. I did the same thing unfortunately. As far as Star Trek Online is concerned, it really feels like a single player game with a chat client tacked on to me. *shrug*

I played in the Open Beta but cancelled my pre-order and subscription before the main launch day (I am a Star Trek fan by the way). I could only handle playing for 1-2 hours at a time because the gameplay was so mind-numbingly boring.

Some of the graphics are good but that's the only positive thing I can say about this game. Please DON'T support STO, otherwise game publishers will think they can get away with this kind of mindless shovelware.

I also bought Champions Online and cancelled my subscription to that after 1 month too. I noticed it's selling for £2.99 now. I was mortified when I discovered that Cryptic were developing STO :(

I find his odd, because I beta Wow and was bored to death. I love STO it has been the only MMO to keep my attention. Ground combat is a little weak, but space combat is brilliant. I will say the game feels a little incomplete right now but I heard there is a planned expansion soon.

I doubt it matters much, the more people they get in there the more potential fees they can collect, which is the real draw for them.

When you charge a monthly fee, the software should be free.

Tell that to the Ferengi who not only charge you to "have a seat," but even charge you if you choose to stand. By the way, reading this text constitutes proof of your agreement to pay me a slip of gold-pressed latinum per word read.

It takes about 200 hours (less if you focus) to get to the highest rank in the game, where you stop earning experience for missions, cannot progress further, etc.. easy to do in the 30 day trial if you want to give the game a try.
