I think Capcom tried a little too hard to make Hakan stand out and emphasize on the comical aspect of SF4. I mean, seriously... body oil?
And oiling himself up and rubbing himself on female fighters is just... wrong.

If Haggar had a kid with a tub of Crisco, I think this guy might be the result.

. . . and the be fair, as nice as it would have been, at least they didn't make a female character that fought by rubbing oil on herself.

Even the Dead or Alive team might have called foul on that.

Body oiling is actually part of a real indian martial art called Kalari Payattu.

I shit you not.

Dude, isn't that Darun Mister, except with a crazy hairstyle and a different 'stache? Actually, I think Darun looked better. Hakan looks strange, but interesting I guess.

This is actually is a Turkish Wrestling Style - Oil Wrestling. By using a lubricant, the wrestler easily finds his way out of difficult situations.

Also, an oil wrestler has to have a strong grappling technique to keep the opponent in control, because the opponent can slip out easily.

Please do a youtube search on actual oil wrestling.

@ Ahmet

Fellow Turk here. When I saw the name "Hakan" in this article I thought it was probably a coincidence since some Turkish names sound similar to Japanese ones (especially Gokhan and Tekin). But wow it actually turns out that there will be a Turkish character for once in a major video game. I wasn't considering this at all, I'm more of a Tekken guy if playing fighting games at all, but playing as a Turk sounds mighty interesting...

Seems well animated on the group, although I'm not a fan of grappler types out side of wrestling games...

Could we have a Chuck Norris type instead?

The design wasn't bad, but a handful of characters in SF3 were better suited for Darkstalkers.

Soul, that just makes it better.

Because then Hakkan will be running around THINKING he's on fire, while everyone else watches him and thinks he's just the lubed-up deaf guy right out of family guy.

The hilarious thing is, it's an extremely ridiculous, over-the-top character and yet Capcom will manage to make it NOT a bottom tier, like Rufus. Someone will kick your ass and probably finish you off with that really demoralizing 2nd special.
