Capcom has revealed the final new character for Super Street Fighter IV, and he's ... well, he's a giant dude covered in oil. Like, Hakan actually oils himself up before each round. This has the aesthetic effect of being extraordinarily off-putting, and the functional effect of allowing him to slide across the stage as if it were the Crocodile Mile. And since he's a grappling-type character, you get these really great squishing noises whenever he grabs another character.
See Hakan in action after the break, courtesy of IGN, and just try to imagine the design process behind this guy. Suddenly a green guy who can generate electricity sounds pretty low-key.
I think Capcom tried a little too hard to make Hakan stand out and emphasize on the comical aspect of SF4. I mean, seriously... body oil? And oiling himself up and rubbing himself on female fighters is just... wrong.
Dude, isn't that Darun Mister, except with a crazy hairstyle and a different 'stache? Actually, I think Darun looked better. Hakan looks strange, but interesting I guess.
Fellow Turk here. When I saw the name "Hakan" in this article I thought it was probably a coincidence since some Turkish names sound similar to Japanese ones (especially Gokhan and Tekin). But wow it actually turns out that there will be a Turkish character for once in a major video game. I wasn't considering this at all, I'm more of a Tekken guy if playing fighting games at all, but playing as a Turk sounds mighty interesting...
Because then Hakkan will be running around THINKING he's on fire, while everyone else watches him and thinks he's just the lubed-up deaf guy right out of family guy.
yup... def day one purchase for me. i mean seriously, that very first official announcement vid with t.hawk, dee jay and especially the introduction of juri already hooked me.
and then all the news i wanted to hear kept coming... makoto and dudley... i mean WOW.
The hilarious thing is, it's an extremely ridiculous, over-the-top character and yet Capcom will manage to make it NOT a bottom tier, like Rufus. Someone will kick your ass and probably finish you off with that really demoralizing 2nd special.
