Finally! A good (I hope at least) F1 game! Especially since this one is coming to North America!

The last good F1 racing game came out in 2007 exclusively on the PS3 but its so outdated right now ... I think this game sell move a lot of units too with Schumi's return.

4 more days 'till grid start :D

Wow epic grammar fail by me.

"I think this particular game will have good sales especially due to Schumi's return"

Seems a bit odd you'd put a picture of the Wii game from 2009 and not one of the screenshots Codies released today with the press release...

Can't wait for this though. An awesome console F1 game is so long overdue.

Exactly, is this a joke about the 360 cover on the PS3 story

Keep up the good work Codemasters. Don't let us down. We need a good F1 racer.

Great, f1 2010 comes out at the end of the season. Lets release Madden 11 during the pro-bowl. I knew codemasters would ruin this chance. And am i the only one extremely worried that this will be more of an arcade racer than a simulator? Also there's no mention of online play in that quote. I hope they aren't leaving that one out...

My sentiments exactly! They ALWAYS do this with F1 games; it's either towards the end of the season, or during the off season and using last seasons driver line-up!

This game needs to be good, I just hope its not too much like GRID, dont get me wrong, I LOVE GRID, but thats not how F1 should be. Ive heard good things about tyre deformation, and weather tho, fingers crossed!

You know, we're passed the point of naming game modes that have been a staple for...oh...15 years now.

I need to hear "cars will fly, people will bleed, crashes will show chard body remains".

These are the things I want to hear.

Its funny how Gran Turismo 5 isn't out yet. Codemasters is completely capitalizing on lack of racing games on the PS3. Thats fine with me, but I really wish they'd just make TOCA 4. Maybe that will happen after GT5. I bet TOCA 4 will be better than Gran Turismo. I still play TOCA 3 online ocassionally, I just wish I had a better alternative on the playstion(s).

I actually liked the old F1 games and thought Championship edition was really good. I don't like that they are releasing it when the season will almost be over. Drivers etc will probably already be out of date when it's released.

I still think it's a crying shame that I couldn't be playing this game Sunday after the Bahrain GP (or during the 2010 season for that matter), but at least I have a date now.

To be fair, considering we weren't even sure how many teams there would be turning up to this race just last week, it would have been tricky for them to get a game together in time.

@Stefarno: Very good point. I would have been perfectly happy if they would have fixed team discrepancies with a DLC, however.

Funny thing I just realized, tho- If I'm not mistaken, Schumi's last season in 07 was concurrent with the last F1 game, right? So is having an up-to-date f1 game dependent on Schumi having a seat? :-)

Formula One Championship Edition by Sony Studio Liverpool is among the best Formula 1 games ever produced, and certainly the best console F1 game currently available. The game excels in areas of opponent AI, sound (accuracy, occlusion and reflection), visuals (22 cars on 17 detailed tracks), force feedback, and realism. With the Driving Force Pro wheel this is truly a hardcore racing experience that offers well over a hundred hours of gameplay. It is simply an amazing title to be released so soon after a console's launch (albeit proper wheel support showing up a year or so later).

There are some downsides. The title did not sell exceptionally well: many reviewers were put off by the hardcore experience, interest in Formula one was waning at the time, Immersion's (Microsoft's?) lawsuit with Sony delayed FF and rumble within PS3 games, and the console was expensive at the time. Three years later, the North American servers have been shut down, and a PAL version is required for online play.

Codemasters could improve the experience by having even better visuals (how about a slight tilt to the camera in cockpit view to indicate g-force?), improved force feedback, more varied commentary, a better designed HUD (readability for RPM/speed/gear), more casual-friendly with training missions, better online, and who knows what else. It won't be easy to create a better game, but that probably won't prevent Codemasters from making more money with the F1 license than Sony ever did.
