Former Baltimore mayor's telltale Xbox 360 now on eBay

Here's a bit of backstory for those of you who don't follow the hot Baltimore news scoops: Sheila Dixon, once mayor of Baltimore, became the former mayor Baltimore after being indicted for embezzlement earlier this year. One of the main pieces of evidence in her trial was an Xbox 360 prosecutors claimed she purchased with gift cards given to her by local developers, which were supposed to be given to various charities.

The telltale 360 recently appeared in an eBay listing, attracting a number of prospective buyers hoping to get their hands on the game console/slice of Baltimore history. If you're interested in owning a device which is capable of single-handedly ending someone's mayoral career, the auction is still running. Its price is significantly higher than a standard console, but you've got to pay a premium for all that history.

If you're crazy enough to buy this, you're not going to play it.

The only way to prove it's special is the evidence tape, and even that's questionable. Remove it, and it becomes another Pro.

"Historical", as in an 90nm 20GB pro yet still green lights and "in great condition", right? ;)

Just imagine the markup you could charge if you used one of these in a series of well publicized serial killings.

What does US prosecution usually do with evidence (legally-registered) guns after trails? Seal it? Sell it? Return it to next inheritor?

Evidence is held onto almost indefinitely. This is because of the face that a case can be appealed and revisited at any time. It all goes into a warehouse.

If I had the money, I think I'd rather buy a 360, a ps3 and I don't know, a wii? All for less.

I demand evidence that this evidence isn't fabricated.
The seller has no history and doesn't offer any proof that this is the real deal.
Even I could make one.

I live in Baltimore, it's basically "The Wire" everyday. Minus the solving of crimes.

You must live in West Baltimore, then. Here on the east side, it's more like The George Lopez show.

The true irony here is Sheila Dixon got indicted for using charitable donations and keeping them for her own use, purchasing things like this 360... yet when the state keeps the proceeds from this auction instead of giving it back to charity, they're probably not going to fire the trial judge.

If they did, it more than tripled the original value of the gift cards, and her lawyers can say that was the plan the whole time. It's not embezzling, it's "creating value".

i think the only person who would buy this is someone who expects it to smell like her panties.... or socks... or books. whatever trippy fetish they're into.

Just another Pro that might just have her credit card stored on it...

When it was picked up as evidence - I can guarantee the "police" or whomever certainly didn't wipe the drive / restore defaults.

Someone's Gamertag and possibly credit card details are about to get used.

A liberal Democrat mayor of Baltimore stealing from the brainless, unproductive, resident leeches who elect them over and over with the promise of free gub'ment handouts, despite the fact that their lives just keep getting worse for it? So what else is new? Oh yeah, there's an XBox involved this time.
