Well, certainly proof that it has hit rock bottom some time ago and finally is starting to climb back up.

As much as I loathe Digital Distribution for most media, as the only solution some people want. I have to admit, it fits perfectly with PC gaming and thanks to Steam, I'm a supporter.

Still, until the tech evolves and matures to properly support it, keep it the hell away from my movies and console games as the be all, end all solution.

I like how some anti-PC fanboys will say that its dying. For it to be dying, it had to have been thriving previously, but they'll think it was ALWAYS dying since its inception, that it NEVER had done well, LOL.

I think I remember seeing that most of the time digital distribution is left out of the numbers for PC game sales. Considering I buy almost all my games through Steam and many people I know do the same it makes sense the numbers would be considerably larger when it's included.

Digital distribution for console on the other hand... Let's just say Microsoft could learn a lot from steam when it comes to games on demand. Mainly in the not-completely-raping-you-on-price department.

The more I think of it, the more I agree that the PC as a platform needs more attention to be paid to it. I technically own one, but it's not even close to be gaming quality (integrated graphics, ugh). After some research though, I've come to the conclusion that it is indeed the best platform available (although I still prefer a 360 controller to kb/m). Elitists ruin its image sometimes, but it is a truly great thing.

If you prefer a 360 controller, just plug one into your computer. Pretty much any recent game is designed to use them.

And lets not forget that it's easy to run a video cable to your TV set from your computer too.

So by all intents and purposes it can work just like a console.

You can even install frontends and not have to worry about the OS at all if you want it for just gaming.

Can you prove what I just said was false? No. You can't prove the PCGA is a propaganda group that only lies either, but to anyone with half a brain cell they obviously are.

Let me ask one thing for gullible idiots -

If there was no NPD, no Media Create, hell not even a VGChartz, would you trust the sales data Sony or Microsoft told the public?

Because that's the thing behind the PCGA. They've made the ridiculous claim that there were 228 million gaming PCs and that number would triple in 3 years. They've said the PC games market is bigger than all console markets combined (yes that makes a lot of sense).

If you believe those things, you're either a fanboy or a complete fool. Take your pick.

Not saying that PC gaming didn't grow last year, hey it might have even grown by more than 3%, but never trust the PCGA, EVER.

Even though the way Kyammi presented his/her argument is certainly abrasive the content of the objection seems to have some merit.

I hear what you are saying and you may have a point. However, there are ways to express an opinion or state a fact without sounding like a complete douchebag.

It's not really a good thing to call the people on the opposite side of your argument names just because they do not agree with you or they do not know all of the information yet. It tends to nullify your argument.

They can't be too far off. There is 220 million gaming PCs in Korea running Starcraft so the other 8 million for the rest of the world isn't too far-fetched :P. You may want to also realise that for the price of 2 retail games, you can buy a graphics card that will run any game maxed out, therefore turning any PC into a gaming PC. Their statistics probably also include gaming-level PCs that may not actually be used for gaming. That number of gaming PCs seems fairly accurate seeing how any US$600+ pc bought these days will run any game.

can somebody send this to ubi soft just in case they keep thinking that they need to sell their games with drm, copy protections, code wheels. key numbers, your parents permission and a huge crazy ass-raping gorilla who needs to be keep besides your computer and gets completely out of control if you ever try to run your game without ubi´s server authorization.

companies are going to do DRM until retail is completely gone since they're so damn paranoid about gamestop reselling the games. IDK why, the last time I bought a pc game from gamestop (3+ years ago) they wouldn't even let me return it when I found out it was crap, even though it only had a CD key.

I can't wait to be sold the ability to play a game I've already bought every 5 - 7 years thanks to the miracle of digital distribution.

A sad step towards the end of video game collecting.

wait, are you talking about pc upgrades? Because you can re-download the game (from every digistore i've used anyway) or are you talking about "special edition" versions that add compatibility of older games to newer systems?

Your comment is kinda confusing....

Good to hear PC gaming and especially Steam is doing pretty well. The PC really is a great platform. Its incredibly flexible, offers so much modularity, customization, options, etc. I can play with mods, play on a desk, play on a TV like a console, play portable on a laptop, etc. All games and all genres, everything actually works on the system, not just first person shooters and strategy games.

Shame its beset by so much piracy but that is the nature of the platform, PC gamers aren't less moral than console gamers. If consoles could play pirated games as the PC, piracy would be as high if not higher.

I'd just like the PC to get as equal respect as the consoles, not more, just equal.

i know plenty of people with moded (modded?) Xbox 360s that have never payed for a game. yes it is easier to pirate games on PC but these companies need to stop pretending console piracy doesn't exist.

I'm not surprised at all.

My local Gamestop doesn't take trade-ins on PC games (for obvious reasons).

The PC section no longer has its own wall-section, instead; its just a small rack with the more recent games from 2009+.

There are a very few selection of PC games available, oldies are non-existent now which used to be an easy find ... :( Oh well I got steam now :D

Digital distribution is a huge success thanks to steam. You can just log into any pc and download your games on to that pc as long as your logged in. Which is convenient when you have multiple pcs or if your hard drive needs reformatting or crashes. Hopefully universal cloud saving is the next step

I miss my cloth maps! I admit I am hastening the cloth map divide by buying most of my PC games over Steam or GFW but how can one resist the sales? Mirror's Edge for $5, GTA IV for $7.50, Batman:AA for $12.50 is just too good to pass up.
