The engineer part of me is really disappointed with this, its something a CS undergrad could accomplish in a weekend project. Blob tracking with an off-the-shelf webcam. Maybe they'll use it in novel ways though, I dunno.

Move, Eye, Go = Corny

Corny!

Sony is later into the motion sensing game.

I have better motions sensing on my porch light that reveal goobers with eggs trying to egg house at night.

Considering Wii's pricing structure for MSRP
$40-wii remote
$20- wii motion plus
Not sure the quality of the tech in the Move, but judging how Socom was only $10 with the headset, I would estimate $80 for the overall bundle. Has Sony even annouced any games yet for launch? Would they actually just make a sports compliation? Like a demo disc of all their sports games for the pack-in bundle with consoles, but as for games for the "$100" bundle, maybe a party/sports mix disc?

"There will be multiple bundles..."

So buying the PSDildo by itself was not announced as an option?

I find it hard to believe it won't be $99.99. If it was significantly under $100, like for, say, $79.99, they would say "Less than $80." In business, you don't want to say your product costs triple digits as it scares away customers. That's why you see infomercials sell $300 products for a handful of easy payments of $39.99. They wouldn't say $100 unless the price was going to be around $100.

Personally, I'll still hold out hope for it, but that price is really hard to swallow for a something like this. And the games were all gimmicky shovelware, it's only saving grace (judging by the liveblog) was SOCOM 4 compatability and the fact that games can be patched for it. It makes sense to show one or two sports titles, but they showed hardly any core titles at all.

If I see some seriously interesting core games using this, and not a bunch of sports games and shovelware, I'll be more hopeful. But considering all they had to show were things I could do in another game on the Wii, but with less accuracy, I'm not so confident.

Just my two cents.

I'm sure they are just saying under $100 because they aren't sure of production costs yet

Since you will need 2 main controllers to play some of the most interesting games, the price is going to be above $100. Only one is included in the kit and you'll have to buy another separately for presumably $40 or so. I don't think motion controls are worth that kind of money, and I'm not really motivated after all I spent on accessories on the Wii.

If "Under 100" means $99.99, then they may be asking too much. The PS3 doing well at 299.99, and asking consumers to drop almost the same amount of money as two games on something that could end up being a novelty item is risky. It's hard to convince people who already have a fully functional PS3 controller that will work with every major game release anyway.

Under $100 for the motion controller, the PS Eye, and a game? That doesn't sound too bad to me. Given that a Wii Remote and Motion Plus cost $65 together by itself (which I'm sure is still less accurate then the Move) and the PS Eye costs $40, that's already over $100. Combine that with a pack in game and I think that's a pretty good value.

Idk. Give me something compelling and I might pick it up. That's kind of a given though.

So it's entirely possible this could end up costing as much or more than Natal, if Patcher is right about Natal's price.

Big "if" though witch the Patchmeister involved, I know.

Thats around what I was expecting. Gotta counter those R&D costs.

One advantage Natal has over this is, as far as I can tell, you only need 1 Natal per Xbox, but you need 1 PSM (Playstation Move, you heard it here) per person, so concieveably 4 (7?) if you want to have a multiplayer "party" game going on.

On the other hand it looks like itll be easier for devs to use this as it has buttons and is basically a super Wiimote, whereas Natal is pretty much a whole new thing.

Really a coin toss as to which does better imho.

Yaaaaaaaay it's under $100.... it's only $99.99! That's a great deal! Pft. I can't stand it when companies try to advertise something as being under a certain price and then it's only under it by a few pennies.

Also, it's kind of a kick in the balls to Nintendo that Microsoft and Sony have motion control. I mean, that was the huge thing for Nintendo - motion control. Now it's just a peripheral for these other two systems. It was an after thought. They have great games, great visuals, online play, etc etc and now they have the only thing Nintendo had over them. Hah.

$100 for a motion controller, camera, and a game or $100 for a wireless adapter or 60GB Harddrive. You decide which is better value.

I hope they make a package of just the controller as I already have a Playstationeye and I don't need another one.

In some of the demos they showed the person having two Moves and not the other nunchuck style controller so I wonder what that is all about!

I think it is way better than Natal! How many people are going to punch or kick their TVs with Natal :)

Owning both an Xbox and a PS3 there is no way I am going to get both Natal and Move. Microsoft it is now up to you to show me Natal actually works and is a better option than PS Move if you want my money. To me it looks like Move can be integrated into traditional games such as SOCOM with far greater success than Natal but will keep an open mind until Microsoft shows their hand.

Why are they treating it as a separate platform launch???

I don't know......I am having horrid visions of the PS2 Official HDD in my head....of which I was the few to purchase in my love of SOCOM.....which was pretty much all it was used for in the end as I could care less about FFXI at the time.

Honestly I like PS Move way more then the Wii I had one for a bout a year and it got old so fast because you could cheat the motion system, and just sit on a couch and not play right at all. Plus the distance for the controls was weird too close and the thing never worked, too far and the whole thing lagged like an SOB.

At least with PS Move it has none of those issues. On top of that it won't cost me nearly as much to get into as it would a Wii system thats black, and to get all black controllers would cost me extra as well. On top of that the best controller for the Wii IE the Super Classic controller is still $60.00 big ones, while the PS3 ships with the DS3, and PS Move is an option. Plus unlike the Wii, and Xbox360 ideas this system will have no problems in low light, or night time gaming like the Wii, and Natal currently do.

Best of all the games here look 100 times better on the PS3 then they do on the Wii, also many developers are saying they are going to bring over their Wii games that were hindered by the Wiimote/Wii system, to PS Move. IE You have Red Steel, Mad World, and games like the Conduit, as well as Monster hunter Tri, and Final Fantasy Christal Chronicles.... All of those are hardcore titles for the Wii platform but just think of how great they would look on the PS3 system, and how much more fun they would be with true motion controls instead of Wii style waggle crap.

I also hope Sony supports it with more hardcore titles. IE SOCOM4 is a perfect start for hardcore gamers on PS Move, now we need at E3 3 more hardcore games, as well as some promised sequels to current PS3 titles. IE Resistance 3, and Killzone 3, as well as Starhawk, and Motostorm 3 would all go a long way to making the PS3 number one world wide.

I honestly like PS Move better then Natal. Natal already has been proven to have problems in low lighting, on top of that the tracking could of been much better but as it stands it seems it still can lose track of you with just a simple twist motion.

PS Move also has the added advantage of the fact it has controllers, Natal dose not and that will limit it's games a vary large ammount. In fact most developers have said they will make all new titles for Natal, while for PS Move it will get new games for sure, but many Wii only games:

Mad World
The Conduit
Red Steel
Dead Space Extraction
StarWars Clone Wars Jedi Saber dules

many of these games on PS move can be ported over once the graphics engines are enhanced and fixed up. In fact Lucas Arts is only developing for PS Move, not Natal. So are several other third party developers like Crytek, and the like.
