@Dr. It even has motion controls. Move it while it's in your hand it moves the pointer on the screen. It's pin point accuracy is scary.

AHH, damn man. That sucks for Sony... Sounds like the Arc name should have never been teased.

I imagine the CEO at the time just kept yelling at the employees to make the PS3 move off the shelves like the wii did back when it was $599 USD. I guess Ken yelling MOVE the Damn PS3s. Move PS3 Move! became catchy enough to name a motion controller after it.

I mean, this is a bunch of advertisers were talking about who were probably responsible for the name. The same brilliant guys who keep coming up with the clever adds for ....Jenny Craig and .... Wal-mart.

I agree. Arc sounded like an attempt to create a futuristic "wii" like name. I also hope natal is changed to something else that's marketable to non- gamers, which is what these things willmainly be targeted toward, at least for a few more years.

the virus called 'motion control'. is indeed spreading. What next, it becomes self aware, sees you and can track your movements on its' own?

..Crap.

I hate Motion controllers. When I play a game, I just want to sit down and a play I don't want to flail my arms around at crappy games that control poorly - it's why I haven't turned on my Wii since last February - although I should just to see if it still works and if I still have my $30 worth of Wii points.

I just saw the demonstration of the Move on G4, and they really had to demonstrate it using a Tennis match? All I saw was Wii Sports with more realistic graphics. The controller swings looked the same and everything. I assume everyone already did the "it rips off the Wii motion controller" thing last year, but damn, it was like Wii Sports on PS3.

I had a similar issue with their E3 showing, when they demoed archery and swordfighting, only hours after Nintendo showed off archery and swordfighting in Wii Sports Resort.

You're an idiot.

One is IR and sensor based. One is camera and light based.

One provides 3D, 1:1 tracking. One doesn't. One uses stupid wires, one doesn't.

So, want to make any more stupid comparisons?

Relax Dr.

I don't think he was comparing the technology, he was comparing the glaring similarities in the way they look. Two different things.

Want to make any more flaming, angry, obvious fanboy retorts.

Go ahead, cuz I am sure you will.

Yeah, I was just speaking asthetically.
I would've mentioned copyright infringement if I believed they were the same thing, but yes, I do know the tech is different.

Also, I own both systems. I like them. :)

In hindsight, it does seem like a name especially fitting for Sony. Their names have always been blatantly obvious, yet have avoided sounding generic. That is the case here. PlayStation Motion Controller would have been generic, while equally obvious. PlayStation Move is obvious, but doesn't sound boring.

Jeez I'm actually surprised by all the criticism..

I think Arc sounded pretty lame, Move really doesn't seem that bad to me.

What was Sony supposed to call it anyway?

The PlayStation Baton? PlayStation Waggle Wand? PlayStation Ice Cream Cone?

I mean Wiimote is already taken so..

Actually, Wiimote is not taken.

And yes, Arc is a dumb name I think. I mean, it sounds neat, but Move makes sense.

Well, I guess Arc does too, but it's harder to pinpoint.
