Especially LBP. I'd just love to play with Playstation Move.... yuk. I still hate that name. But it's still not terrible.

Tbh, I don't really see Nintendo worried all that much. They have that casual market down, and I honestly don't see that many casuals putting down the $300 just so they can have a chance to see what Sony does with motion control.

They have already earned shit tons of money, that's why they're not worried.

What they should be worried about though, is the next generation. Those casuals who want something more might move over to PS3 or 360 by now, and the super-casuals might not be that interested in buying a new console when Wii HD is coming.

Dude I hope I am not reading this right where it says SOCOM will require the motion controller. That is going to be upsetting if that is the case.

Please, no minigames or anything with "party" and "sportz" in the title.

I wouldn't really mind mini-games. I think the problem with the Wii's mini-games is there are too many of them and they are interchangeable.

I was impressed with the SOCOM 4 demo of it, but it's even better that it's not mandatory to use for the game. Sony's hit a nice balance between casual hardware and using the good ol' dualshock.

I think they have always had a good balance.
PS2 had both casual games like Buzz and Eyetoy for the casual people, and still loads of games in every genre for the gamers.
360 is leaning way towards the gamer-side, and Wii is too much on the casual side, while PS2 and 3 have had a good balance.

As long as games give you the option to choose, no side gets angry. You just get more options, and that is always good.

Well the playstation eye does have a mic built in aswell. Maybe a mix between hand gestures and voice commands could be pretty cool.

Thanks for clearing that up Xav. Love me some SOCOM, but not really buying into the whole motion controller fad right now. But maybe it will work, just didn't want it forced onto me by one of my favorite Sony franchises of all time.

Why the hell is LBP motion support news? They demo'd it at TGS. Are you guys not paying attention to your own articles?

....Still looks awesome though, as well as Socom 4

God, now I feel like a dick

The PSeye has 4 omni-directional microphones which means it can separate 4 different voices at the same time without getting confused. Socom 4 also has gesture recognition and headtracking support. On top of that, the Move knows where you are in 3d space.

But if you want to use the ds3....you can...your choice.

Oh my...this completely ruins SOCOM 4. Guess I'll be sticking with MAG. Every experience I've ever had with motion control has been profoundly negative. I do not expect Sony to change this (nor, honestly, will I even give them a chance by buying this worthless chunk of plastic).

Chill out. It is optional. Not mandatory. You need to understand what "support" means in a game.

its optional but they can't just magically add motion controllers with changing the mechanics of the game. and how will it balance out playing online? what if Move players have a certain advantages over DS3 players. The games balance is thrown off.

Umm, yes you can. All the same buttons are there. Your right analog is just replaced with a pointer.

@solace

I'd imagine DS3 users will be better shots, but Move users will have easier teamworking. I say this because you cant hold the move still in mid-air, perhaps it has a deadzone for shooters though...

Food for thought.

fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

socom doesn't need motion controls optional or not. Socom is on it's last leg and why they still can't get it right is ridiculous. it's been close to 5 years since the debacle that was Socom 3 and 2 years since that POS called Confrontation. How hard is it to take the core mechanics of socom and bring it into this generation.

Socom 1 followed Socom 2 and nothing much was changed and people loved the game for it. So if it aint broke dont fix it.

I think the main thing with Socom4 is that you will be able to use the Move as a pointer for shooting. That's what they were showing off.

Well, that sets an interesting tone for SOCOM4 - does that mean it will be casual, or more hardcore, or will it offer settings in between those two extremes?

oh man, these guys really need to look at how the controls work on three different Wii game disks: Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, The Conduit and Metroid Prime Trilogy

These are some of the best controlling FPS Wii games out there, World at War was also very tight.

They (developers) get FPS controls down on this early on and everyone that belittled the Wii control scheme for Wii FPS titles will be saying they are sorry and they 'get it' now. Well, they'll do that anyway sooner or later - the truth is unavoidable.

Best innovation in a long time in control schemes and having the power of the PS3 behind some now defined targets and goals to produce a new level of experience is pretty exciting.

Too bad...
