I think i would be cheaper to take the money the telephone will cost (let's say...250$) and buy a lot of second hand 360 games. A lot more possible gamerpoints for the same amount of money.

Chievos on the go though. Big difference. I'm an iphone hoe, but if they release some kind of mobile stand alone device for under 200, I will buy it without question. That's how much of a chievo hoe I am.

The best part of the Windows Phone 7 is not beating the games, it's showing everyone online that I did.

I LOVE the concept of the Windows phone. The social aspect of mobile phones has been severely lacking and limited but this new phone looks to be sort of a persistent social device keeping you connected the entire time across multiple platforms/services. If this phone plays nice with the Microsoft Courier due later this year, I'm all for it.

I just googled "Microsoft Courier" and wow, that looks amazing. I must have been living under a rock since I had no idea that this existed.

Microsoft is definitely stepping up their hardware game.

Believe it or not GamerScores do slightly matter. When you're getting matched up for ranking matches in some online games it'll match you with someone close to your GamerScore, so it's to be a fair match. As someone with a GS of 500 isn't playing against someone who's 100000. As the 500 shouldn't be as good as the other guy.

I've never seen someone "enjoy" showing me their gamer score or even talk about it. To me its just a testiment to how much time they have on their hands. It is super satisfying to hear that "poink" sound, I'll give you that.

People just enjoy getting achievements - I still don't understand why this raises so much grumpiness on these boards. It doesn't hinder your gaming for someone else to enjoy them.

They won't. Unless Sony gets off their ass and beefs up the PSP's security, because that's the only thing stopping PSP Trophies: Hackers.

@ Chris D - And the issue here is...?

If earning Achievements on a cracked game on a jailbroken phone is such a big deal, then why is Microsoft swinging the Banhammer 17 different ways at people who played with hacked 360s running the raw, .ISO file of a game when they connect to XBL? Microsoft has measures implemented, and it just needs some tweaking for their handheld service, just like they tweaked LIVE for GFW.

Don't worry, your GamerScore can sleep safely, knowing those bad ol' hackers who will crack $2 games just to get 200 points, that don't do jack shit, will get what's coming to them.

I would hardly say this is a "useless" feature. I don't personally care for inflating my gamerscore but let's face it, gamerscores and achievements are a large part of the success of the Xbox 360. It's a great social aspect to gaming and this device is trying to bring it all together.

I getcha, but this generation has been the weirdest I can remember in a long time, and this obsession with achievements and gamer scores are even more confusing. To me it is like buying a computer because it is red.

@HighFiveJesus

I bought an xbox 360 because it was red.(Resident Evil edition)

And because it was guaranteed to have the more efficient hardware. I was pretty paranoid about buying a 360 prior.

@ HighFiveJesus: The concept of points go all the way back to the days of the arcade. Getting an individual achievement acknowledges how much of a game you've completed or whatever, which goes as far back as Super Mario Bros. Games have always been about getting rewarded for accomplishing something that doesn't matter all that much (Wii Fit and other exercise games are the only ones that seem to reward me for doing something worthwhile with my time).

Achievements have proven oddly helpful. If I notice one of my friends has a "game completed" achievement I might initiate a conversation over Live and launch right into a spoilerific conversation that I wouldn't otherwise (I've done this a few times). Also, having concrete goals have inspired me to try to do things I wouldn't normally do in games, and I seem to be more motivated to actually complete games this generation. It's a little irrational, but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy it.

Does this mean that XBLA games could be getting a rebrand sometime soon? If WinMo7 games get 200 GamerScore, and considering the breadth of them are going to be MUCH smaller than XBLA games, then wouldn't a rebrand be in the works? Increasing the GamerScore cap for Arcade games would help differentiate XBLA and WM7 games (because, if you can get upwards of 200 points for a simple checkers game, and you can only earn the same amount for something like, say, Shadow Complex, then there needs to be something done).

Increasing XBLA games score cap to something like 400 GamerScore/24 Achievements would help remedy this, as well as free up ideas for Achievements in larger XBLA games like Shadow Complex and Call of Duty 1. Maybe even creating a higher tier of XBLA games that don't carry the "Arcade" moniker - a different name would be best - that can carry a higher GamerScore/Achievement number, because, let's be honest, something like Shadow Complex wouldn't be a real arcade game. Also, lets do something with those completion tiles in your profile (100% Achievements: the shoddy equivalent to the PS3's Platinums, which really are the only good thing about Trophies). And whatever happened to that beta program that allows you to exchange your GamerScore for Microsoft Points?

So question. When you're online on your win 7 phone, do you show up as online in XBL? Is it basically the same as GFWL in that regard?
