This is right up there with me buying Xbox Marketplace movies and music videos...
Oh...haha...no, I don't do that.
I just like throwing cash into my shredder of death.

Yeah, it is pretty silly. I suppose the difference is that you can apparently purchase a game in the Game Room and play that game on your Xbox and/or PC. I imagine this will extend to the Windows 7 series phones as well. That I could, maybe, go for.

Looks pretty slick but I don't see myself using it. I do like the preview game feature though.

I think we're amongst the minority here, but I agree...it does look pretty cool! The nostalgia factor alone is enough to make me dish out a few hundred MS points on some of my old faves.

Can some one explain to me why this is better than how we play XBLA games now?

Not better, just different. It's the exact versions of the arcade games (which may or may not be your thing) and it uses one collective set of achievement points for all the games. It's not like 'these are the achievements for Jungler' it's 'you played Jungler (for whatever insane reason) and you unlocked this Game Room achievement by getting a high score'.
Considering the crazy number of games they're talking about releasing, I think it's kind of neat. With the free play feature, I'll get to check out more classic arcade titles that I never got to since I grew up in a city with terrible arcades.

I like the way you can switch between games on the fly, that's about it though. If I want to play in an arcade, I'll go play in an arcade.
I've said this before, for 20 bucks I can get some food and a 10 dollar card for Dave & Busters or Main Event or something like that. Seems like a better time.

What a terrible waste of development time. But hey, at least this cancels out that Playstation Home thing.. .

Does it? Does it really? Because this is an avatar based menu for playing emulated arcade games. Home is a full on, ugly and terrible Second Life clone where you can dance and look at ads. Home took years to develop, this probably took four dudes four months.

Ditto that. I'm quite excited to see that they're putting out some of the less frequently collected classic titles- I hope that future additions continue to be so diverse and ideally include some games that haven't already been collected in compilations ad infintium.

I find it funny how after all this time, the old aracde games are still trying to nickel and dime us to death.

That's pretty much what sold me on this concept, originally. The fact it's just a menu makes me much less enthusiastic. It's basically Hasbro Family Game Night with retro arcade games and avatars running around instead of Mr. Potato Head.

Looks cool. Seems like they were obviously going for the nostalgic feel. Doubt I'll get it though. I just don't have much interest in playing old school games any more. Neat idea though.

When Game room is out I'll download the application to have a look at it but I really can't see myself buying any games on it. The prices are too steep for arcade games this old.
I'll start being interested in Game room if they ever put old console games on there like Mega Drive games.

the thing about that is, as far as pc's go, i'm more then willing to use an emulator for the old games. Any of the old games from atari and what not that i would buy for the 360 would be because i already played them amd loved them the first time round when i bought them as a kid. if i want to play them on a pc i'll emulate them, on the tv, well i've already re-bought them once.

Greater selection, cross-platform play with Windows and the 360, quick transition between games, free play of friends games. Those are reasons.

Home has no focus. This isn't like "live your life inside a game." This is just a hub to decorate and buy old emulated titles.
I'm not to interested with titles this old, but once it gets into late 80's early 90's, there would be a ton of stuff I would get.
Also, it is a shame they can't find a way to squeeze in some of the older arcade games that have already been purchased. Maybe not include it in the achievements or anything, but just a way to have cabinets in my arcade for contra and super c would be awesome.

I dunno, I'm just not that interested. Especially since they want us to pay 50 cents per play (if you're just sampling the game). That's just way too much to ask for 25+ year old games. Really the entire game should be 50 cents to own.

As soon as they bring the Konami arcade games that I have been wanting on XBL for years (The Simpsons' Arcade Game, X-Men, ect.) then I'll care.

I thought you could walk around your arcade and see friends avatars all around you and what they were playing.
This is just a pile of dog crap with a camera floating around. Whats up with all that other junk like helis and ninjas bouncing all over the place.
