The drummer wasn't paying attention at all. That drum pattern wasn't really anything different than "Ace of Spades" or "All I want". Pretty typical punk type pattern.

This is getting ridiculous. Green Day is no longer relevant Harmonix. Christ, did I just step into a time machine.

They are like Bon Jovi. You'll see them in a half-time show for the Superbowl every now and then but they are just playing the same crap to keep making money. No innovation. No relevance. No point.

Why not make a Pearl Jam, Radiohead, or Tool Rock Band? Christ!

You're confusing "I don't listen to them" with "I am relevant"

They still sell *very* well, which is all that matters for a game like this.

I wouldn't be surprised if GD:RB outsells Beatles:RB.

Though I disagree with your assessment of Green Day's relevance, I wholly endorse the propositions for any, or all of the three, iterations of Rock Band that you mentioned.

As a massive fan of Green Day, and frontman for a punk band for several years in my past that covered this song frequently, while I do love this song combo it is not hard to play at all.

If harmonix has made it such than they are simply trying to creative artificial difficulty where it does not lie. The primary play of almost every green day song should be fairly easy for all rock band/ guitar hero players in almost every instance.

No disrespect to the song or the band, but as to someone who played it many times it's the truth.

I couldn't agree with you more. There is somewhat of a pattern of making easy songs more difficult in Rock Band (see Everlong for an example). I really appreciate Green Day (although I am not a fan of all of their music), but none of their songs are difficult to play on the guitar. As I veteran guitar player, I would rank all of their songs as "medium" or lower. As a veteran bassist, I would rank all of their songs as "hard" or lower.

Either way, I am totally appreciative of Green Day's songwriting ability. Their talent/technique, however, is another story. Again, I'm not ragging on Green Day. I totally appreciate them...they are ingenious songwriters. However, they're not the most talented group by a long shot.

I'm sorry then bro, especially since your handle is "Drumminjay108." Maybe the drums are the EXACT same difficulty that you face while playing them (I am assuming that you are a drummer, for obvious reasons), but Rock Band does have a tendency to make easy songs harder than they actually are (and hard songs easier than they actually are, for that matter) on the guitar and bass.

Yeah that song tracks perfectly, for the most part most songs are as close as you can get and expect the controller to pick up on all the strikes accurately. Guitar Hero on the other hand is blatant in their over-charting.

The only reason they fail is because the drummer literally stopped playing to pick up a drink, and completely missed all the notes until it failed him out. Then the guitarist, who had enough energy, simply didn't bother to save him. It wasn't difficulty, it was obliviousness.

--

Are you saying Everlong is overly hard on Guitar? Because on the drums the only thing that makes it hard is the endurance/speed required to maintain that 1/16th note roll. It doesn't require crazy coordination like The Perfect Drug or Panic Attack, it's just *fast*. Like playing Run To The Hills or New. Simple, but fast.

--

I, too, am disappointed that we didn't get to see Jaded, just Brainstew.

They are technically two songs, they are separate tracks on the disc. They just play them together because either one by themselves feels incomplete, and Jaded is so f'n short.

I pretty much only ever play the drums on RB, and I've been wanting to pretend to be Tre for a while. :D (Especially since he has a five piece, so it'll be 1:1 for a lot of songs. Not enough cymbals on the RB kit, but there rarely are. -- Ion kit with the 3 cymbal pack, here.)

Pretty funny...the song is called "Brain Stew/Jaded" for a reason. Usually modern rock stations only play the "Brain Stew" part, so I am assuming that the players assumed the song was over. LOL. Either way...this video made me want to play this game, after I pay $30 for it, that is.

I think one of the main reasons The Beatles RB was great is because The Beatles had a tremendous amount of variety in their music over the years. I don't think Green Day has really changed much at all since Dookie and I don't think they deserve their own title.

I can't remember the last time I heard a "new" Greenday song.

This isn't personal opinion, people will forget about Green Day when they stop doing concerts and endorsements. Sorry if I don't support artists who skate by on their previous achievements and can't keep coming out with good stuff.

Not relevant. Down-vote me all you want, wankers. ;)

I am happy to see that the people at Harmonix didn't bitch out and play it on easy like so many of these videos of people playing Rock Band and having it on easy.

So I am gonna take a guess this one will be compatible with the rock band stage kit? Especially with all the light show stuff on the screen and the fact that you can transfer these to RB 1/2/3 (All the rock band games except for the Beatles one have been compatible with the stage kit, as in Lego and the AC/DC track pack).

Just wondering, does anyone else use the stage kit? I never hear anyone mention it, I always am afraid that it wont be supported on whatever they do next. As geeky as I thought it was originally I have to say its a pretty big hit at parties.

And to those of you who have no idea what I am talking about it is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHna2yRtXnY (But only one light show instead of two, unless you mod it).

Wow, I can't believe you people actually voted my OP down. I simply stated the facts, and is a fact that this track, and almost all of their other tracks are not at all difficult to play on real guitars. You could quite easily pick up a guitar from scratch and get it down within a couple weeks.

Again, it is not a slight on the band, the song, or anything like that.

Once time I snapped my fifth and sixth strings before a show and someone joked, well you didn't need those strings anyway, you're just playing punk... It's not a true statement, but their is some truth in it for much of the pop punk that is out there.

If you need to tell yourself these songs are difficult, that's fine by me.

I think its very possible for Green Day to outsell Beatles.
Although Wii says old people play video games, they don't buy every kind. Green Day, which appeals to a lot of more different crowds, would be more appealing to the a wider range of people. Plus Harmonix, has a section for requesting music... Green Day is popular. Plus you gotta remember licensing fees as well.

Knowing demographics is a huge factor when it comes to selling games. Ubisoft is a great example of that with there Imagine/(animal)z series.

Plus having exportablity helps for people wanting to help increase their. Overall rock band library. Wasn't that one of the main gripes against Guitar Hero? And I'm sure there is quite a few people who said they were turned off by Beatles due to lack of export.

Well, look at it this way. Beatles:RB appealed to a larger audience, in general. However, I think Green Day appeals more deeply to the rhythm gamer audience. On the HMX boards, and other boards I've seen, Green Day has been one of the most mentioned bands for requested songs.

Also, think about this. The average gamer is currently in the range of 35 years old, apparently. That seems a bit high to me, but whatever. That means that in the *height* of Green Day, the Dookie and next few albums era, they (we, I suppose, I'm under that a bit) were in high school or college, prime musical taste development times. So Green Day is hitting right at that nostalgia point for a lot of people that are already into the rhythm game market. Green Day seems, to me, to appeal to the existing market more than the Beatles did, where the Beatles appealed to the outside market. (Hence its stronger sales on the Wii.)

So I'll be more specific. I think on the PS3 and 360, Green Day:Rock Band will outsell Beatles:Rock Band, and perhaps not on the Wii.

Pearl Jam announced their live-oriented Rock Band project some time ago, with users picking out their favorite live versions on the site. (Not sure why they went with live stuff, maybe to cut the studios out of the deal?) So that's pretty much already happening.

More *could* be happening with Radiohead, I don't know. Thom Yorke seems kind of like an anti-gaming douchebag, though. I have no basis for that statement, however, so please don't take it as objective fact. It's just a gut instinct. Maybe he's secretly working Harmonix to do the world's first Rock Band debut of an album.

--

Also, I will bet dollars to donuts (WTF ever that means) that not only will Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (suspiciously absent from the Queen track pack) be in RB3, it will be used in the commercials to highlight the vocal harmonies. /conspiracy

@novus82x Although I'd like to see all three of those artists you listed have there own Rock Band game I don't see how you can say you can't remember when you've heard a new Green Day song. If I'm not mistaken the last Tool album came out in 2006. Green Day came out with a new album in 2009. Also it's about selling copies of the game. Green Day is more mainstream than a band like Tool. Although I know I'd buy a Tool Rock Band I don't think the general public would and when it comes down to it they're about selling copies and making money.
