wow, they're even stealing the castle crashers art style quite a bit. Weak.

Have you played Castle Crashers? It has a very distinct newgrounds/flash style and this (cell shaded look) doesn't.

I think in some ways you're right, but at the same time this game is capitalizing on Castle Crashers success j ust like the grunge scene capitalized on Nirvana and Pearl Jam's success, or bubblegum-punk capitalized on Green Day and Blink182's success. Ripping off a formula isn't so much plagerism as stealing the notes and lyrics to a song, or stealing the words and order of events from a novel or screenplay, it's more like stealing the method (the cinematography, the overall theme, the gameplay mechanic and art style).

I don't condone it for the most part, mind, especially in this case, but I don't think it's verbatim copyright infringement.

@Twee

Yes, I own castle Crashers and played the hell out of it.
The term "newgrounds/flash style" doesn't compute unless you're insinuating that every game made in flash has to be hand drawn. I find it hard to say that this game is cel-shaded. It has some cel shaded elements in the background but most of the backgrounds shown in the screenshots look like they are comprised of half baked clip art.

Yeah, it's clearly a Castle Crasher rip-off, from the gameplay style to the wonderfull art style by Dan Paladin.

BUT, I hope they consider revising the price tag on the game. I've been looking for games to play with my 2 sons (4 and 6 years old) and that seems like a great game.

I obviously already own castle crasher, but the Xbox controler is just too big for my 4 years old to play with us.

I have a feeling the price will drop quickly once the game is out and no one buys it.

I have a four year old nephew...what games are good for kids his age? His parents don't have a system, and his dad has already voiced concern that his kids will be "out of the loop" with video games since so many parents will already have a system in their house.

@petebot330

4 years old is a hard age to be a gamer. Lots of games are too complicated and their hands aren't big enough for big controllers.

BUT

we bought last year a wii for my 6 years old son for his birthday. the games they have is Wii sports, Wii Resorts and Mario Kart. At first my 3 years old (soon to be 4 years old) was having hard time even understanding what was going on in any of the games. But you would be amazingly suprised on how fast he cought up. My youngest son almost 4 years old and when he plays online at mario kart, regulary finish withing the 3-4th position with 12 others players.

First his birthday (next month) he officially gets the big 4. I bought him Super Mario Bros wii. I seems to be into the Mario mytho right now and the game I expect will be a challenge for him but he seems to learn fast. I also bough a 3rd set of controller so I could play with both of them.

On the PC, there are a lot of games my soon to be 4 years old enjoy. Games like Peggle and lots of kids oriented flash games based on his favorite TV shows. I LOVES the game Machinarium even though the game is too hard for him, I just play with him and he controls the little robot and I help him solve the puzzle.

His older brother (6 years old) is obviously way better and he can finish all the lego games on Xbox (batman, starwars, indiana jones).

Thanks a lot. Yeah, he officially turns 4 on April 1. Maybe we'll get them a system when he turns five. In the meantime, I guess we can have him try out peggle or mario kart when they come by the house....though I'm hesitant to let him get a taste of that crackrock without him having access to it at home. Don't want his parents to hate me. haha

I love the Wii, I really do. But I had never heard of this game before today and they are probably 10 to 15 dollars too high with the price on this game. These 3rd party developers need to wake up. This should be a 19.99 game at most at retail or a 15 dollar Wiiware game.
