Wanna watch 9 minutes of a guy sneaking around, tying people to balloons? What if we told you it was Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker footage? Kojima Productions has uploaded a lengthy gameplay video of the former "Metal Gear Solid 5," in which our hero Big Boss does a bit of recruiting for his cause -- in this case, that means knocking dudes out and floating them back to his base on a balloon.
We also get to see the "Sonic Eye" and "Analyzer" tools in action (a radar device and an item used to determine the stats of potential recruits), as well as the ninja-inspired "Stealth Mat," which allows Naked Snake to hide in plain sight while he's holding it up. Check it out after the break!
While the last MGS game was a vast improvement (control-wise anyway) over the last iterations, as a whole I still enjoy the best MGS (Snake Eater, imo) over the the best Splinter Cell (Chaos Theory, fact.)
We'll see if Conviction changes my mind come April.
I can't wait for this game to come out, so I've been playing the "Piece Walker" minigame on Konami's site feverishly for the wallpaper that can be unlocked and used on my PSP. Good stuff.
MG used to be my favorite series (that and the SCD Lunars), but after MPO and MGS4 I just wish he'd let it be dead :P This game seems pretty redundant. I'll buy it because I'll just hope it gives me a good time like MG used to, but I can't say I'm super excited. I also don't see how it could screw up Big Boss's character worse than MGS4 anyway.
I'm excited for this one. My big turn off for the last MG was that the dialog dragged on way more than it needed too. I like a good story but I also like a little gameplay with it. Hopefully this PSP game will have a good balance. Can't wait. (I just hope the controls are more intuitive than they looked in the video, it looked unnecessarily convoluted at points.)
Have you had the chance to play the demo? It takes a couple minutes to get used to but once you do its pretty easy. Its like going from God of War on the PS2 to the PSP, an easy transition.
I personally like MGS over Splinter Cell but both are great. Splinter Cell is easier gameplay and control wise when it comes to stealth but MGS is slightly more complex.
