Mass Effect 2 DLC 'Kasumi's Stolen Memory' lands on Apr. 6 (don't forget!)

While Mass Effect 2's in-game DLC pipeline, The Cerberus Network, continues to transport new weapons (and soon, a new vehicle) to players for free, BioWare has announced the game's first pack of paid downloadable content. "Kasumi's Stolen Memory" finally completes Commander Shepard's dirty dozen, adding a confident female thief to your anti-Reaper repertoire. It's currently scheduled to launch for Xbox 360 and PC on April 6.

After downloading the DLC, players can get in touch with Kasumi on the Citadel, either in the middle of an ongoing Mass Effect 2 game or after the completion of the main story (lesson learned from Mass Effect 1 DLC!). Once recruited, Shepard aids Kasumi on a secretive mission of recovery, which requires a suave disguise and a run-in with an influential and predictably corrupt art collector. The content, which also provides the "Locust" SMG, a flash-bang grenade loyalty power and a new Achievement, should take about an hour and a half to complete.

BioWare is currently in the midst of "internal discussion" to determine the price of the DLC, but we'll keep you updated as soon as it's finalized. Look for some impressions of "Kasumi's Stolen Memory" coming soon to Joystiq as part of our ongoing GDC coverage. Spoiler: It looks great.

What's sorely missing in the Mass Effect games are the female races for Salarian, Krogans and Turians, not to mention actual children, no matter the race. Like having a kid bunkered in hiding in the Normandy or some such, turns out to be a bitoic genius... blah, blah blah, yu get the gist.

When can I recruit Blasto the Hanar Spectre?

Not really related, but I was hoping we'd get a chance to meet a few more spectres. I mean, as of now we've only met 2 spectres besides Shepard - both in the first game and both Turian (Blasto aside).

I know they usually work independently but it would still be interesting to flesh out the secret, hush-hush 'society' of the Spectres.

Also, I noticed I didn't speak to one Hanar in the entire game. Did I miss something?

This one would be most pleased to have a hanar party member in the third game. This one would prefer that said hanar NOT be a romance option though, if only because there would inevitably be (even more) "tentacle love" fanart made.

You can't deny what the developers already include in the game, hanar.

I'd rather have elcor Hamlet.

I guess this means she'll be hanging out in the Ladies Bathroom?

Either that or:

-Shepard's bathroom (yes, there is a hidden one in his cabin)
-A sick bay bed
-Bunking in the Crew Quarters

Isn't the portside (or starboard, I forget) observatory still available?

I believe one of them is still locked away (unless I missed someone)

Embassy is right. The port observation deck on the Crew level is still locked.

Thank you so much BioWare. The DLCs keep coming, and the game has only been out for 6 weeks. Why can't anyone else do this??

Now I have another reason to play through to get the Lvl 30 achievement.

This is good news, but also a little frustrating. I'm almost finished with my second playthrough, so adding a character now is kind of irrelevant for me. Are we supposed to hold off on playing our games just so that we can get more value out of them once the DLC hits a few months later? I feel like Bioware is penalizing me for enjoying their game enough to play it twice.

It's cool to add more missions and things to do in the universe, but they should be structured as post-game content. I'll probably get this, but I won't get much use out of the new character because the battle is already won.

Very excited about the Hammerhead, though ;)

For 1 and a half hours i'd be willing to pay $2.50 max

considering that 35 hours cost me 50, i agree, maybe 4 max.

ohh come-on your too cheap, you do know how much it takes to add a character, pay the voice actor, the artists, programmers, and whoever else, not to mention implementing it into the current game, and putting the character in every mission...

...If anything it'll be 400MSP considering how every other DLC for Mass Effect (1) was 400

Then I realized that it was really more like 4.5 hours, since I had 3 characters.

I'm willing to pay a $2 premium just to keep my ship from being such a sausage-fest.

It was only a matter of time until there was some paid content.

Ummmmm... I don't play this game so I don't know the woman character's name there, but she looks a heck of a lot like the woman who's the spy in that Chuck show on NBC...

And shame on her, too. Miranda was a totally phoned in effort.

it doesn't matter. every time i see promos for the show (i refuse to watch it until i no longer work for the company it is based off of) i think of miranda.

If you managed to get it working with stupid EA accounts, you got content that was cut from the disk which contained a crappy collection mission and a crappy squadmate. You also got 2 weapons and a new armor, all which probably took 1 hour to make and was again most likely taken out of the main game.

The new vehicle looks like total crap from the videos I've seen. Cerberus network is a failure on so many levels. Good job, Bioware! You were able to cut parts out of the game and make us download it looked like you were doing us a favor!

That DLC wasn't on the disk. Even if it was, IT'S FREE. How can you complain about FREE? They could've charged for this DLC(even if it was on the disk, which I doubt), but they gave it to us for FREE. How can you complain about FREE content? Even if it was on the game's disk, you pay $60, which is the cost of the game when you bought it. You pay nothing extra for all those weapons/armors/characters/Hammerhead, so why are you complaining?

Isn't Kasumi already on the disc?

from what people have hacked up, she isn't fully there. only voice files and placeholder body with only some elements for the final mission. nothing on her full mission.

To me the news that it's paid is good, it means they're pretty confident about it being good!

I wanna see some Kasumi screenshots or art concepts NAO!!!

I find it funny that I'm more excited about the SMG then I am Kasumi.

This will be a day one purchase for me, I needs more spacey action.

What I'd like to see more than anything is an update to the brain dead squadmate AI.

At only 1.5 hours this really sounds like it should be Cerberus Network content. If it is an more than 400 Billy Bucks I will pass and even at 400 Points I will have to think about it for a minute. I am really hoping we get some real expansions for this game eventually. Bioware needs to look at what Bethesda did with Fallout 3's DLC (especially Broken Steel, level cap raise please) and give us some meat like they did. Might just hold off on playing the Hammerhead stuff until this comes out just so instead of two small bites of new content I get one mouthful.

I'll never get used to seeing Shepherd all default...

anything under 1200 mspts is an insta-purchase for me, more than that and ill be forced to wait for reviews and recommendations.

i love ME2; workin on my 3rd playthru, on insanity this time. im still finding new content, new things to do. cant wait for both dlc packs to drop
