Naughty Dog wants to half-tuck Uncharted into the PSP

Naughty Dog's co-president Evan Wells is definitely interested in having people tuck Nathan Drake -- either halfway or all the way -- into their pockets and visit the world of Uncharted whenever they want to. He feels that there are a lot of stories to tell in that world, and that the PSP would be the perfect platform for it. Just imagine Uncharted: Sully's Adventure where you can wheel and deal in the black market, or Uncharted: Elena on Assignment where you're chasing a dangerous news story. Scoop!

"I think it would be fantastic to see the game (move) onto a handheld system," Wells told us. "Each one of the episodes is sort of like a standalone thing and I think we could do that pretty easily. If we can find a partner to work with, I'd love to do that ... we definitely wouldn't do it ourselves. We're trying to just focus on the PS3 technology and platform right now." He added, laughing, "But, if we can't find a partner, then maybe we're going to have to find a budget ourselves."

Laugh if you will, Wells. You're just toying with our heartstrings is all. We'd love to see Nathan Drake on our PSP. Make it happen. We have Ready at Dawn's phone number if you need it.

it'd be nice if they would full-tuck a new Jak and Daxter into the PS3 first.

That's my first reaction after reading the headline. "what?! No Jak?"
Good they're focusing on PS3. But it would be kinda interesting what ND could do with the PSP

+1, can we get a new Ape Escape as well please. One is meant to be coming with move but nothing has been said since.

Trust me, Sony would THROW money at Naughty Dog for Uncharted PSP.

Uncharted relies heavily on cinematics. Not sure how well that would go on a PSP. Though Naughty Dog is a talented team, I'm sure they'll make something great no matter what they do.

GoWCoO seemed to do just fine.

When you playing on a 1 nanometer by 1 nanometer screen, even PSX graphics look pretty damn sexy.

crisis core had gorgeous cinematics.

Nice!,This (when it comes out) and the RE portable make me a very happy PSP owner.

They could put Uncharted on the Atari 2600 and I'd buy it.

Seriously, as long as it's the right dev and ND is sheperds/oversees it I think it's a great idea. And make it available as a download on the PSN as well.

I have a PSP, and I love playing it, but I really hate seeing so many games on it that would be better suited on a console. Here's hoping they do some sort of dual release like Tekken Dark Resurrection

yep.. thats why i barely use my psp. when im playing portable games.. its in small chunks.. not something i want to sit there with for hours and hours.

too many of the better games on the psp are so long that i just end up ignoring them.

wasn't psp advertised as a portable ps2??

Haha, that's the exact reason I like the PSP. DS when I have 5 minutes, PSP when I have 20.

See, this is part of the problem. They should be getting Naughty Dog to do it. The problem with PSP in part, is that it is rarely the franchise's actual developer working there

Ready at Dawn working on it would be anything but problematic. I could see Sony Bend pulling off some excellent work as well. Might have suggested High Impact as Size Matters was fantastic, but then they had to sully their reputation with Secret Agent Clank and their butchering of Jak & Daxter.

It just depends on who you get to work on the project. The two I mentioned have both done amazing things with the PSP and with the franchises they've worked with, plus they've got great relationships with SCE (and one being a subsidiary and all).

The PSP is one the most pirated platforms and they want to spend more resources making some throwaway pixelated PSP uncharted?
...just stick to the PS3 naughty dog, and keep making amazing games on there

Please don't do it guys. I can't afford to buy a PSP right now. If this happens, I will have no choice.

Find a way to do the game without shitty controls and I'll buy it. I think it'd have to be Ready at Dawn.

That's what I'm saying, they need to quit trying to force console games onto the PSP, design games FOR the PSP. Work with what you've got, the DS doesn't have this problem cause they aren't trying to force Ocarina of Time onto it.

i hate too say this it's a good idea BUT the Piracy .. they wouldn't make the money they want from it cause PSP sales are horrible due too Piracy .. sure some games still do very well but i think it's a bad move just as much as Valkyria Chronicles 2 too appear on the PSP and not the PS3 ( i mean really if they brought it too PS3 and had actual marketing for the game it would sell alot more then the first did )

Fully agree. On behalf of all legitimate PSP owners out there can I just thank all of you thieving pirates who have made a great portable platform so unattractive to developers who apparently like to be paid for their work.

As far as I'm concerned you can all go and half-tuck yourselves.

naughty dog doesn't skimp on the gameplay, so i'm all for this! the uncharted series is the only game i can do single-player on excessively

This alone would convince me to buy a psp.

If Uncharted for the PSP is made, I want Naughty Dog to do it, no one else. Only they would get it right.

Not sure how Uncharted can be pulled on the PSP. Might be doable with Syphon-filter type controls I guess.

Who says it needs to be a TPS? KZ Liberation was an excellent game that kept the same flavor of KZ while doing something unique with the PSP hardware.

While I like the initial idea of the Uncharted series being portable, I can't get behind this. The games rely heavily on duel analogs, and without them on the PSP any control scheme could be significantly clunkier than it is on the PS3 To make it a really great game for the platform the gameplay would significantly change and then we'd really just have a whole new game with a Naughty Dog ip slapped on it. Not necessarily a bad thing, but far from ideal.

This would make sense, if they put it on the right path and the good thing is that they have PhyreEngine on their side to help them make Uncharted look superior on the portable like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on the consoles.

Tomb Raider Anniversary ran great on the PSP! I see no reason why Drake couldn't. Man, I'd love to buy a portable Uncharted.
