@Jacob

The developers have said that its part of some new storytelling mechanic. So rather than have an outright objectives screen or list, the game just places your objective or points of interest on the object within the environment itself. its supposed to keep you immersed as Sam Fisher, registered badass.

Though if you wanted to start a flame war you're forgetting that this title could (and probably will) go multiplatform at some point. So you realize that joke will backfire should that occur :-p.

You created a new account here on Joystiq just to tell me that? I'm flattered and I'm glad to see your enjoying my slopping seconds. I think they make a cream for that itch of yours.

Must own this game. How will I ever get to it now that I've started Dragon Age and FFXIII.

Yeah I'm feeling the same way. I've finished Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2...I just started Brutal Legend (digging it a LOT so far...the RTS elements are integrated pretty well into the actiony elements) and I've got Assassin's Creed 2 sitting untouched. I figure by the time I get through those two this will be out and (hopefully) at a lower price.

Simple. You convert your major bodily systems to run on electricity so you can give up sleep and the need for a life away from the game syste. It's so simple. *scoff* Puny humans...

Don't worry, I'm sure it'll get delayed again. You probably still have a good six months before this game drops.

I'd like to get my hands on an actual demo of this to see how it plays out, but it's sounding great so far.

I had to cancel my PC preorder due to my dislikes of the DRM. I want to play this game so bad, but now I am just going to have to wait until I get it from gamefly.

Ditto...I actually had it pre-ordered since last Summer, but canceled due to the DRM. And then it's 360 only, so no go on the PS3 for me either.

I don't know why they bother painting descriptions on crucial/expensive things. If you have to read "SATELLITE DISH" to know what you're guarding, you deserve to have Sam Fisher kill you.

If you look at other screenshots or videos you'll see similar words across buildings and such; it's how they show you objectives and important information, at least sometimes.

That was fairly obvious. Though, to me, it takes away from the plausible realism of the game. I prefer to think that the bad guys in the game are just that stupid, that way when you kill them you're actually helping to filter the gene pool; rather than just killing for killing's sake.

That's a game mechanic, with text overlayed on top of it. It's not actually painted on the dish.

This game makes me want a 360. But I can't justify buying one just for a little under a handful of games. Hope the rumors of it coming the PS3 down the road one day comes true. And yeah I know what Unisoft has said but didn't 2k say the same thing for Bioshock and we see how that turned out

Don't worry, Tony I have a solution to your problem. Just make an arrangement that as soon as you beat God of War 3 you'll let your friend borrow your PS3 to play it if you can borrow Splinter Cell: Conviction after they get done playing it. Considering the exclusivity and hype behind both titles I'd say that's a pretty even trade. Say you'll even throw in GoW 1 and 2 if it will seal the deal.

@OzCueball

Yeah it helps if you have family that are willing to do it. In my case, I'm an only child and my cousins and family are spread across the US and the globe as well. Plus at the moment I've taken to buying UK PS3 games since (1) They play on my US PS3 without any problem and (2) I'm doing a PhD in England at the moment. So friends with UK 360's will have to suffice ;).

@Vii That wouldn't be a bad idea if I knew more people in this area that owned 360s. I don't know many people in the state I live in. Even then most of my friends that I have known for years outside of gaming own ps3s(10+) compared to ones who have 360(3)

why would my comment get down voted. I wasn't saying anything fanboyish. Just saying that i only would want a few games thatbare on the system.

My problem is this game sounds like it forces you into action...

My favorite part of the older games is you could literally make it through an entire level without being spotted if you were skilled enough.

I've never really been into the SS games, but hopefully that will soon change. Every time I see it I think of the movie Taken and how good that was. I only saw it for the first time yesterday and I can't stop thinking about it.
Any news on a demo?

You may be right, but from a lot of the coverage I have seen/read many people (including ubisoft) have said that this is a much more action oriented game.

I still find the idea of requiring a melee attack to charge up execute energy bar odd and artificial, just...why? It doesn't make much sense, and Splinter Cell is more "sensible" than, uh, Metal Gear Solid(I like both).
