I cant help but be utterly disappointed they didn't decide to do a Lost Odyssey 2 instead.

Hell, the fact that they went ahead and made a Wii game. I would have preferred another JRPG on the 360/PS3.

Nintendo contracting them to do it probably had something to do with it...

figures i get downvoted.

I am happy they are doing what they love, but as a non Wii-person. It disappoints me. I mean no offense if thats what people figured. Funny

And yet people still downvote away.

Dude, people, I'd be disappointed if a favored game company of mine was working on a system I didn't own! You know, because I don't own it. Why the heck does a person get downvoted for that?

You have to understand it gets a bit annoying for Wii owners when every time a decent looking game is announced most of the people (usally the same ones who complain theres no games to play on the we) posting are bitching about how the game shouldn't be on the Wii.. instead of actually talking about the game.

I really like the new song on the site. And the concept art is awesome too.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this. Anyone else getting a Chrono Trigger vibe from these?

Those seagulls, the colour scheme, and the rocky/lush coastal 'city' definitely evoke some 1000A.D. Chrono Trigger. Certainly captured my interest.

This concept art has me intrigued. It actually reminds me a bit of star tropics.

Reminds me A LOT of Hyrule Castle at the end of Wind Waker.

I think thats just because of the wind waker - esque graphics. the castle looks nothing like it.

with that said. the art style does look a bit twilight princess-y though

According to Sakaguchi, it's going to have a real-time battle system, or something very much like it. Which is nice. I would like to see something with FF-level production values (which this is supposedly getting) and a real-time fighting system.

*is

And those were two unrelated statements. I was expressing my surprise at the visual style, and then also saying that I hope the game does something else to keep it fresh.

The art style is fantastic. It's much more interesting than games that try to make things look real.

It'll be great to see how shitty it'll actually look once they show in-game screenshots.

Ironic part is everyone is quick to say they're not interested, it will fail, etc., but the thing is we probably won't even get a chance to declare it a failure due to the uncertainty that we'll see a release outside of Japan, a la Archaic Sealed Heart. Also, factor in the way franchises that don't have Final Fantasy stamped on it, like Dragon Quest, are prone to be commercial failures in the US.

It's pretty sad, really. I bought a Wii initially because of all the JRPG support I thought it'd receive for titles that with wishful thinking, would make it to the US like Tales of Graces, Monado, and TLS, and they probably never will.
