It's amazing what kind of grand story can come out of such small things. Bravo Naughty Dog.

This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called meth. I told them no, because they didn't have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.

Man, the whole "wolf t-shirts are trendy" thing has come about 2 decades too late. My parents used to buy those things for me all the time. Middle school sucked.

I really need to get through some games so I can play this (along with the original). Why are there so many good games out there? Why???

Uncharted 2 should be bumped ahead of anything, and everything, in your game backlog!!

Aside from the first Uncharted, naturally. For character development if nothing else.

Great write-up, Ludwig. A fascinating design process! I'd be interested to read more pieces like this, if other developers were willing to be as forthcoming as Naughty Dog.

Naughty Dog, you've gone down in gaming history. You guys deserve it after the masterpiece that was Uncharted 2.

Congrats!

Who would have thought creating one of the greatest games ever made was hard. ;)

Its very interesting and insightful to hear about what the devs went through to make everything work (I am a programmer so I can sympathize).

It was all worth it! Uncharted 2 is phenomenal! Thank you Naughty Dog!

That train yard shootout mentioned was hell on Crushing, took me like 15-20 tries. I'm surprised they think they fixed that difficulty spike. Maybe it's just me.

Well... they fixed it for normal. It wasn't too bad there.

I didn't have trouble with it on Hard, but on Crushing it was so tough. I almost gave up for the night and turned it off but finally got it.

That's the point though. It was 'crushing' difficulty so of course it was going to be very hard.

I know, but I still felt it was a spike in difficulty even within Crushing mode. It didn't ruin the game, but having read that they addressed a spike there I immediately thought "wait a minute, on Crushing there was still a major spike at that point for me!"

Wow! Fascinating article Ludwig! I had heard from some interviews that the Uncharted 2 development had been difficult, but had no idea. It is really cool to see that a developer like Naughty Dog can not only make kick ass games, but also be willing to be so forthcoming about their development processes. They even went so far as to criticize their own game and say that they could have done better!

They just earned big points in my book, impressive considering how many points they have after developing Uncharted 2 in the first place.
