According to a report on Kotaku, a "source" has told the site that the remaining Infinity Ward developers still working for Activision in the wake of the recent leadership shakeup are holding out on leaving the company for now due to royalties owed by the publisher. As claimed by ex-Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West in their recent complaint against Activision (with regards to themselves, that is), the publisher is allegedly holding out on promised royalties owed to the entire company. The tipster says that, rather than a traditional salary-based reward system at IW, the studio pays "regular or even low salaries" and offers "ridiculous royalties" to the whole staff.
Furthermore, the piece alleges that Activision "continues to delay royalties to other employees in order to keep them at the company" (though it's not clear whether that means other Activision-owned studios as well), and that morale at IW is supposedly "extremely low." We've asked Activision for comment on the claims and will update you if we hear more.
Update: Activision responded by saying, "Activision doesn't comment on industry rumor or speculation." Not exactly a definitive "no," but not a confirmation by any means either. We'll keep you updated as we hear more.
Rumor: Infinity Ward employees not leaving due to unpaid royalties, morale 'extremely low'

It would seem with what is happening it would be fairly safe to say that the Infinity Ward that created the first 2 Modern Warfare games will not be creating the next installment.. Since most of the talent will jump ship as soon as they get paid. May as well let Treyarch do the anymore of the titles.

This doesn't look good for the COD franchise. As unfortunate as it is, it could be exactly what Medal of Honor needs to make its way back into the industry in a big way. Kind of weird how that cycle has worked out eh?

Here is a crazy Idea, why don't we shoe infinity ward our support by not playing MW2 for 24 hours and show them who really has the power over their money. We should do this!!

wow. apparently douchebags make up most of the roster at activision. infinityward deserves better; and i hope they lay on ass kicking of biblical proportions and take activision for all they're worth!

I really do hope infinity ward leaves. They need to make something other than a CoD game, the series is just getting stupid the more they are made to make additional installments of it.

ok after this I am done with Activision and all their games. MoH for my FPS needs, MAG is there and I am also buying BFBC2. I don't care if they create heaven in all its glory, I am still never ever touching anything that has Activision written over it. These guys are nothing short of monsters. They are the worst of the worst.
I am not anti-big business, nor am I anti them making money. If people will buy then they have every right to try and exploit that. But to deny the people that make these games what they are, to deny them their due is just pure evil.
Bobby Kotick will be the ruin of gaming as we know it if we allow him to continue.

If they didn't have a contract that said they would be paid bonuses, and only took it on someone's word, then they're idiots and don't deserve it. Seriously, every job I've taken has included a written offer letter, with salary and any bonuses available - even the minimum wage jobs I had. So I seriously doubt there isn't something written. What COULD be left out is a time frame for when Activision has to pay. I work at a company now that has bonuses due every six months. But those bonuses are not paid at the exact end. They are paid anywhere from 3-6 months after the "bonus period." And if you are not an employee on the day the checks are cut for the bonus, you don't get it. Leave a day early, and you get nothing.

I wonder what kind of security Bobby Kotick has. People have gone postal for less.

Bobby doesn't need security. He shoots Palpatine-style lightning from his guitar hero peripheral.

this is why the developers need a union. I despise unions usually, but look at hollywood, the writers and actors have unions to protect themselves from the big movie studios ripping them off. The same needs to be done by developers so this sort of crap doesn't happen in the future.
