Not only does the Game of the Year edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum add TriOviz 3D, it comes with Batman and Joker-themed 3D glasses. They're not exactly what you would imagine Batman and/or the Joker wearing to watch something in 3D, but they are decorated in the style of the two characters. They're like one of those old Halloween costumes with the picture of the character you're supposed to look like printed on the front.
In case you haven't heard about this Arkham Asylum thing until now, you can see a trailer for the Game of the Year edition after the break. You'll be able to pick it up on March 26 -- but only if you're in Europe, Asia, or Australia, as those are the only regions for which this edition has been announced.
these are green & purple... so any coloured lenses cause headaches? I'd need 3d glasses that fit around my glasses.. unless I want to sit 12 inches from a 32" screen
Why on earth would they release such an atmospheric game in that kind of *colored* 3D?! I can see immense appeal in a 3D version, but the standard modern kind you'd find in theatres today, not the kind that would ruin one of the largest appeals of the game.
Wish this were coming stateside. I skipped the game because I couldn't stand the combat in the demo, but I've been playing a lot of it at a friend's place lately and I'm loving it.
I work @ GS and this game is available to preorder in the system. I don't think I would be available to reserve if it wasn't come to the US. I guess we'll see what'll happen.
"And kinda like the kid who peeks at his Christmas presents, I must admit, it's sadly anti-climactic. Behind all the stern and batarangs, you're just a little boy in a playsuit, crying for mommy and daddy! It'd be funny if it weren't so pathetic.
......
Oh, what the heck, I'll laugh anyway! HA HA HA HA HA HAA!"
They should release a DLC package with glasses at gamestop for 5 bucks for those of us whom already bought the game... Then again how much fun would it be to play it in Green and Purple vision??? Blu-ray version of Journey to the center of the Earth 3D (with yellow people) was kinda sucky...
I still don't get these GOTY releases coming out so soon. The game has only been out for 7 months, which kinda makes the people who bought this at first to give the game its GOTY status feel screwed over. I think it would be better to just give the GOTY status to the Platinum Hits and Greatest Hits versions of these games. It just seems unfair.
The reason why Batman Arkham Asylum ain't Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits yet is that it still sells. GOTY edition doesn't make sense either as like you said the game is only 7 months old but its probably a way for Warner Brothers to get people to buy this who missed out on getting the regular edition.
Heck I played the first time through in Detective vision. Mostly purple and Green anywho. besides the Avatar glasses were purple and green and that worked out well.
So, this includes all the extra maps and DLC that was released? Some of the stuff never came for the PC version (as does much DLC unfortunately), so I'd like to try it out.
Xbox 360 Achievements has a list of stackable games, and AA GOTY is one of them, at least the Euro edition. I never paid much attention so i dont know if you can play euro games on an american xbox but, if you can, you can get double the points
once again a stupid business decision, the p.c. and the xbox versions are going to be pirated like hell, and this time there will be no choice for the people who doesn´t live on the other side of the ocean... way to go!!!!
To those commenting on GameStop holding pre-orders for Batman GOTY, they were taking reserves 14 months ago for Guitar Hero: Van Halen based on the passive comments of Activision's CEO with an April 2009 release date until Activision forced the company to pull the listing from their pre-order list until its official announcement last July. Hell, I can do worse:
-Prior to the DS launching, GS/EB Games were taking reserves on Viewtiful Joe and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles as launch titles solely because Nintendo hinted they might exist. -GS took reserves on Lost Odyssey and Huxley as Xbox 360 launch titles, with LO coming out 2 1/2 years later and Huxley never seeing the light of day. -GS could reserve Super Mario (that was the title), Legend of Zelda (that too), and Metroid (that also) for the Wii when it was still called Revolution- before the console even had specs.
Given the company's notorious track record for 'trying to get the jump' on rumors as easy money, I'd say it'd be foolish of anyone to count them as the 'definitive answer'.
