Microsoft has announced the date for your return trip to Pacific City ... when you'll tear it to shreds in the name of justice! Crackdown 2 will launch in North America on July 6, with Asia, Australia and New Zealand releases following on July 8, and Europe's on July 9 -- narrowly missing the "first half of 2010" release estimate.
Producer James Cope previously said that a demo will be forthcoming before the release of the game, so we'll be playing some small portion of Crackdown 2 sooner than July 6. We're going to start playing even sooner than that, actually -- our dreams are littered with orbs.
[Update: New multiplayer ViDoc embedded above.]

2010 is filling out insanely nicely. Very keen to see how this one plays out.

What monsters were in Crackdown?
@Chris
Yeah, some sort of cursed creatures that were formerly human... some people didn't care for that twist even though it's pretty typical for the type of story (i.e. cursed treasure). Anyway, IMO none of those games were ruined.

Given the fact that I haven't even finished the first Crackdown yet, I may have to pass on this until then.
Hopefully, they've improved everything -- camera, controls and difficulty. A lot of time in Crackdown it's you vs. the enemies & the camera. Plus, the driving mechanics in Crackdown were really awful too.

i can't say why people bought this game, but this game is FUN. for me, it got back to the soul that GTA IV lost with the franchise.........that sometimes open sandbox worlds are just best used for doing crazy ass shit. GTA IV was a great game, but it took itself way too seriously and just wasn't as fun to mess around in. crackdown hit that spot for me perfectly.

Make sure and do co-op.
Probably the most fun co-op game I've ever played. There's nothing quite like getting near the top of one of the tough climbing puzzles, having that sense of vertigo that no other game can replicate, and then here a rocket from your asshole buddy go whizzing over your shoulder, lol.

I know I hardly post, but I have been lurking in these Joystiq' comment areas for years...
Loved CrackDown 1, but never finished it. I want to either finish (I think I am in the last area) or start from scratch. I would much rather play co-op than single player though.
Anyone who would like to play, please add me. I'm just starting to play stuff online and need to build up a solid friend's list. And who better to play with than you hilarious fellow Joystiq readers.

Forget bunny hopping. Driving up walls was the shit. I remember skipping the entire tower of the some gang leader on the island by driving up it. I spent a good hour getting my timing down, but it was worth it.

the sequel looks like it is shaping up well. 4 player co-op should be the hotness. i still need to get the rest of the hidden orbs (blue) in the 1st crackdown. i got all of the agility orbs :) it'd be nice if there's a bonus in crackdown 2 for players who got all of the orbs in crackdown 1. maybe starting off more powerful.

Dude, rocket tag looks awesome! It's like whatever is the current PC name for the game formerly known as "smear the queer."

"oooooo... guns, GUNS, GUNS!!!" (that one makes me smile every time)
I got the original Crackdown last summer (got my console in late 2008), and played the hell out of that thing. Finished the campaign, twice... LOL... but still have a lot of orb hunting and stunts to do. Could use some co-op buddies, for this game and of course for the 4-player co-op for Crackdown 2!

The trailer only made me more excited for Crackdown 2 to be release on July. I read on http://www.2dshooter.com that Crackdown 2 will be out on July this year!
