Mario Kart Wii had it, and i thought Gears 2 did as well, or was that only for certain modes?

The one feature I wanted was cross platform online.

There are so many PSP owners out there, if they pushed this out as a cross platform online title online play would be intense.

I couldn't muster enough excitement for Little big planet despite the awesome creative outlet.

Yet, something about ModNation and making your own tracks is bringing out the little kid in me and I find myself getting very pumped for this game.

I think it's why MarioKart has better sales than Smash Bros. Racing seems to draw more of a crowd for some reason...

It's because racing is more real. Certainly Mario Kart is no standard of realism, but its far more easily comprehensible to the non-gamer than fighting or platforming (and against LBP's case: platforming is probably the least "realistic" genre out there. What goes on in platforming is more separate from reality)

Reminds me of the good 'ol Excitebike days. Making tracks was rather fun and I imagine it will be this time around too. Besides, I feel like anybody can be creative enough to make a race track compared to making a level in LBP.

you can also chalk up the popularity of Mario Kart to the universal appeal of being able to act out your feelings of Road Rage.
who among us hasn't had the urge of to shoot a red shell at some jerk who doesn't signal before turning?

The beta left a bad taste in my mouth. Apart from the bad camera and the atrocious framerate the kart handled terribly. It was impossible to turn properly and the main focus on the drifting was annoying and that didn't work very well either. Maybe it'll be better in the retail release but I'm not interested in it anymore anyway.

Read the interview, he said they fixed the camera and most technical issues.

And most people I have talked to that was in the beta said that it takes a few minutes to get the hang of drifting and such but after that it's really fun...

I thought the exact opposite about the Beta, I wasn't really interested in the game at all. The beta blew my expectations out of the water though. Everything about it seemed tight.

The frame rate was jumpy and the camera did have it's issues but the racing itself was awesome, and the customisation was perfect, I spent more time making cars, then I did racing them. Drifting works perfectly though, at least better then Mario kart on the Wii.

The focus on local multiplayer is heartening, though we'll have to see exactly how well play.create.share applies to a racing game.

huh? You play the game create tracks and characters and share them online with others... not sure how much you need to know. Just imagin LBP with racing andan easier to use interface to vote on levels and characters.

Looks good, hope they release a demo so I can see if I like how the karts handle. Mildly excited for May 25th.

From my experience with the beta the karts handled very well, although the racing is pretty fast so you need some skill in order to make the turns quickly.

I'm excited for this game, the possibilities are endless....well assuming they added more that you could do with the tracks......

I REALLY wanted to make a double helix but the space that was available wasn't enough to do so....I hope they fixed that....

also I want to make so floating tracks as well....

Endless is kinda pushing it. I really want to have a Destruction Derby/Shootout kinda level which so far I can see emulating but nothing built to the core of the game. I really really really want Trick Stadium type space which just isn't going to happen unless it's just informally counting and jotting down the trick counters on paper. Last I would love to see a collection race, where you have endless laps but have to collect certain numbers of things or run over X number of sheep and so on. The game looks fantastic but unfortunately computer programs still haven't quite kept up with imagination :)

Well I really enjoyed the beta - apart from the framerate issues and loading times. So if those have been improved then I have no reason not to buy this game.

I thought the mod tools were incredible (even though they were limited in the beta people made some really awesome tracks, characters, cars).

4 player multiplayer is what will make this game.

And good interview BTW.

"2 Player Online-Spltscreen"

Fair play United Fronts ;)

the 3 issues i had with the beta were
: the framerate
: the loading times (fixed)
: the effort it took to create a 90° degree turn (doubt thatl be fixed tho :( )

Finally, a Play, Create, Share title that actually requires skill AND time (instead of LBP, which is mostly time)

When I first heard about this game, I kept thinking it was like, and comparing it to, Little Big Planet. But the more I see and hear about it, the more I think it's a lot better. LOOKS SO GOOD!!!

This game just looks killer. It has everything I loved about BLP but without the hassles. In BLP it took literally HOURS to create even the simplest of levels, and I never do anything simple. From what I have seen of Modnation, a new level can be created and played in a matter of minutes. This is much more satisfying to me, as the game will allow me to create as fast as my creative juices can flow. I am very eager to see what I can do with this game. May 25th can't get here fast enough.
