Splinter Cell Conviction demo drops March 18

Last week, we brought you the incredibly exciting news that a Splinter Cell: Conviction demo was confirmed for release on Xbox Live. That thrilling news just got too awesome to bear: the demo will be out this week. March 18, in fact, according to a new Inside Xbox video.

If you're not worried about spoiling the demo for yourself (which, we suppose, would lead to spoiling a very tiny portion of the game by extension), you can see some of the gameplay the demo covers in the video. Or you can wait until you get to put yourself into Sam's goggles for yourself. Oh, did we say Sam's in it? And that there would be goggles? Whoops, spoilers!

And a directly relative amount of balls will drop on March 18th as scores of scrawny chested teens play the demo of Manly Grizzled Badass: The Game. The sheer magnitude of Michael Ironside's voice alone should put hair on your chest.

to continue that thought... I wonder if it'll just be a part of the main story, which hopefully doesn't give anything much away. What would be great is if it was a specific mission made especially for the demo so that they can showcase some of the cool stuff you can do without actually showing any of the plot or anything like that, but that'd probably be too much work.

I remember back in the good ol' days. The demo for Fallout (the original) was similar to a town in the full game, but had some relatively large differences, meaning that you got to muck about in the demo and get a good feel for the game but not feel like you'd picked up a book which only contains 10 pages from the second chapter.

Considering that Splinter Cell actually involves stealth and MGS is more action I'd say they were in no way trying to copy MGS.

Tactical Espionage Asshole is more like it.

I'm a diehard Metal Gear fan and you're actually kinda killing it for me. There's no reason why there can't be two exceptional franchises in the same genre...

I don't think you need an Xbox Live Gold account to play demos. Unless they changed it, which would be stupid.

Sadly yes. At least for the Just Cause 2 demo I had to upgrade. I know it sounds silly, but I wet myself in anticipation for that game.

PC Demo, Steam please tell me you got my back on this one!

Dam, couldn't be a day earlier... great time to play since it's a day of for Paddy's Day! Guess I'll have to do 2 days without work :D

You didn't have to upgrade your current account; just create a new silver Xbox Live account and you'll be offered a month's free worth of gold for that account. Once you've downloaded the demo you can play it any of your profiles.

I did that with Just Cause 2 because I can't justify paying the monthly sub on the off-chance that there's a demo I can't wait a week for (until it's available to Silver accounts, too).

Derp ass aka SolidLiquidGas, in terms of the Stealth Genre Splinter Cell is in a league of its own...

Ironically, the original Splinter Cell is what caused me to by my first Xbox system. I was more than satisfied with my Ps2 until i stumbled across Sam Fisher with his night vision, stealthy kills, and use of the shadows.

Metal Gear couldn't be more different from its plot to game-play mechanics. 2010 and you farking 9 year old hobo's are still talking about the $50/yearly thing?

You just need Gold if you want it a week earlier, after a week all Xbox Users can play it, at least almost all Xbox games have demo's ^^
