Mega64 gets back to its roots in the troupe's latest video, enlisting the aid of John and Jane Q. Public to create another minute and a half of comedy based on The Beatles: Rock Band. You're probably asking yourself how the trio can recreate the full British pop quartet. To answer that, we offer this: through the aid of a surprise guest, of course!
Head past the break to see who. We're pretty sure you'll never guess who it is.
Are you sure they're in San Fran. Because 80% of their videos take place in San Diego, where I live. I recognize almost all of the places they film. ie. Balboa Park
Well, San Fran would make more sense for folks like Newell & Kojima? Aren't any real easily discernable landmarks in this one. I don't recognize all of 'em, likely because these goofballs live out in east county. NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT YOU CAN GET PLENTY OF HOUSE IN OUT THERE. At least that's what I hear...
I'd like to point out that they always do these videos with guest developers during GDC, so yes, it is in San Fransisco. Also if you notice in the video one of the groups of people they were singing at was holding GDC bags.
While those specific videos taken around GDC might be San Francisco, the group is based out of San Diego and a majority of their other videos take place in San Diego. Luigi's Mansion, Bayonetta, Elite Beat Agents, Super Mario Bros 2, Dead Rising, Prince of Persia.
Seriously, based out of San Diego. Wiki that shit.
not only have these guys made some hilarious videos, they've also struck gamer gold. i doubt that when they started making videos, they thought they'd get to hang out with miyamoto, kojima, and newell.
of course, i doubt they anticipated getting arrested as well. RE4 video is still their best!
Really? Ringo Gabe does nothing in the video except jump, and that lasts literally one second, and then they freeze frame for 2 seconds. What part of that is awesome? I honestly don't get it. He's not even in a suit like the other guys. They put a wig on his head, had him jump, and said CUT THAT'S A WRAP GOOD JORB GUYS.
It was funny in the unexpected sense...but the rule of three dictates that this is the time to let the joke die now. Especially since it's become self-aware.
Good twist though. I genuinely expected somebody Beatles related.
I want to know where they get money for wardrobe. I mean seriously, they've donned solid snake costumes, mario and luigi costumes, this time 3 button suits (very out of style these days, they weren't laying around in someone's closet) . . .
The reason this takes place in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Gardens/Metreon area is that it is next to Moscone Center, the city's conference center for trade shows.
Last week was the Game Developer's Conference (you can see people with GDC logos in the video) at Moscone, so Gabe and our Mega64 boys hooked up while there!
"Back to their roots"? What utter rubbish. Mega64 are wonderful with whatever it is they do.
I fail to see how they can improve on this next year though. The only way to finish off a wonderful quadrilogy would be to go bigger and better. Imagine a whole troupe of game developers settling their differences to join Mega64 act out a skit.
