Heard about the shooting being off. Still, i want it a lot. They'll mod a better version of gun play i'm sure.

great for stalker fans.

If you are a stalker fan you should be used to the shooting being "off". Just saying.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting this, I know I'll love it I just haven't decided if I should drop the $50 on it. Should I? No. Will I? Probably.

Well written Justin. This game was completely off my radar visually, thinking, "Meh...another shooter," but now methinks im going to have to give this a looksy.

Damn, I should have paid more attention to this game. I thought it was another RTS or something. I think I'll have to check it out now.

No, I thought it was an RTS. I don't know, the cover art when glanced at briefly looks like an expansion pack to red alert or something. But after reading the review, I think I did read about it before, but I don't know where.

That's a lot of deep and thought-provoking metaphors for love. Your wife must surely be pissed that 'that vidja game' has somehow become one of her competitors.

C'mon Cheburek, that was a great review. Certanly one of the most on point, balanced head and heart game reviews I have ever read. A true literary achievement in a genre that admitedly has a long way to go. And I am sure Justin's wife is very happy with such a passionate husband. One can love multiple kinds of things and people too.

Justin McElroy, you just convinced me to buy this game.

Every time I watch a trailer, something inside me gets this nervous feeling. A feeling as if I pass on it, I'll be missing out on a hidden gem. Every review I read seems to tell the same tale - a flawed game mechanically that just sets up the tone and environment up so perfectly that there is magic there.

I can think of another game that fits that description - Bioshock.

Everything you just said above has solidified my decision to pick this up tonight. So, yeah. Thanks!

And just so we can stay on topic, here: yes, I'll grab Metro 2033. Thanks, Justin.

That's funny - I'm playing the original Bioshock right now (never got past the first few hours)

Amazing atmosphere - love that in a game; one of the reasons I love Fallout so much. Lots of good buzz on Metro, have to try it out.

FFXIII first. By the time you finish it, Metro will easily be $10-30 cheaper (plus it's a fantastic game that you should be playing now anyway).

I've got five-six more backlogged games before I get around to my second ME2 playthough sometime this summer XP

I would wait until the Kasumi DLC before starting a new Mass Effect 2 playthrough.

In the meanwhile, get Metro 2033. You can skip Final Fantasy 13; You'll thank me later.

I'd say to rent FFXIII, if it didn't mean playing for 10 hours a day in a race to complete it (true story). It doesn't have much replay value but the initial ride is fantastic and you should get around to it as soon as possible.

Let's just be frank and let the office know you've got explosive lava-hot poo and be done with the whole thing. Then you can 'recover' on the couch for the next several hours.

I'd take a game with character but technically flawed over another FPS rehash with tight controls any day. Developers that take risks should be supported so that on their next go-around they can afford to invest more in gameplay tweaking.

Well, you've talked me out of it. A shooter that isn't good at shooting? I have to stop what I am doing to create electricity and change air filters? Yeah, that sounds like fun... not. Still, I'm glad someone is enjoying the game, but it won't be me.

I'm not quite sure why everyone downrated me. I'm not saying its a bad game, I'm just saying its not for me. The author convinced me not to buy a game which I was otherwise going to buy. What's the big deal?

"A shooter that isn't good at shooting?" and "that sounds like fun... not" sound an awful lot like judging a game before you've played it. That, plus the "not" joke, is why you were downvoted.

Damn. Reading this really makes me want to just stop what I'm doing and pick this up right now, but I just can't get over the fact that the one real issue you had with the game was what the game is supposed to be about. If shooting and enemy AI is not good then I just can't do it. I'll probably just pick up Rogue Warrior instead.

But that's not what it's supposed to be about. It's a game about survival, really. You're desperately trying to scrape by on whatever filters, ammo and health packs you can find. Shooting the world is the primary way you interact with it, but experiencing the world is the real reason to play the game. Nothing gets in the way of that.
