Dude, you really should.

Alot of people unjustly call it a QTE movie, but that's not accurate. This game uses the Dualshock in ways that none before it have been able to pull off.

It's not just pressing buttons. It has motions you have to make with the controls, and even pressure sensitive analog controls. It really shows how games using the Dualshock shold be done.

Man, if this had been a launch title for PlayStation Move, it would've helped Sony "move" some of those wands off the shelves.

With games like Heavy Rain, LittleBigPlanet, and Demon's Souls, man... PS3 gets some really unique and awesome exclusives along with all the more conventional amazing ones like Uncharted 2, God of War 3, MGS4, and Gran Turismo 5. I play games on everything but I'm continuously impressed.

I said that earlier and could not agree more, Wiizer. They really should have waited and made this a launch title for Move. If they were showing this for the first time instead of archery and table tennis, people would have no choice but to sit up and take notice of Move. I'm pretty sure Sony knows the potential of pairing this new game style/genre and their motion controller. This is only the beginning.

You definitely should. I started it two days ago (playing this and Bioshock 1 at the same time - double dose of great) and it is truly unique and engaging. I'm just past the first investigative section and I'm hooked.

Graphically and animation wise it can be uneven (Uncharted 2 really spoils you) but the gameplay design is really elegant. It's qte done in an original way and you can't sleep on it because you might miss doing something that will affect your approach to the story.

A must play this gen.

No. Molyneaux is focused on immersion. All of his games are aimed at this; making the player feel as though they are actually taking on a role in the world. Like B&W, having the world warp around your actions as God or the new Fable's subjects reacting to your choices as ruler.

When he says Heavy Rain is a glimpse of the future, I think he means that the world of Heavy Rain is quite realistic to the player. The Molyneaux vision of the future of gaming, I'm assuming, is a game where the world reacts and molds itself around everything you do.

"Film Producers" Pfffffffffffffffffffft. That's all I have to say to you. Pfffffffffffffffft.

Glimpse of the future... I was hoping games would have better voice-acting and stories that aren't filled with holes.

Great concept, but poor execution.

And its nice to see developers act professionally instead of acting like children.

C'mon Wiizer, it's not like he doesn't have a point. I thought the game was great and truly innovative and inventive. However, the voice actors can't hold a candle to anyone in Uncharted 2 or ME2, the children are especially annoying and almost a caricature of how a child's voice sounds. The sex scene was forced, unnecessary and nonsensical (I know you can skip it, it doesn't make sense regardless).

*SPOILERS!!!* SPOILERS!!!* SPOILERS!!!*

But my biggest gripe was the lazy and deceitful way that the typewriter scene was set up. Say what you want, it was just sloppy storytelling.

End spoilers.

All in all, it's a really good game that could be greatly improved.

I think it's awesome that he's talking Heavy Rain up.

I played through (watched through?) it last weekend, and really enjoyed it. I hope there's a lot of DLC, because I'd enjoy seeing more of the story- in particular a few loose threads that might be interesting to see tied up.

(I also went and downloaded Indigo Prophecy from Xbox Originals afterwards- pretty good stuff.)

That's no good. Heavy Rain was a great experience, but I hope to God that there aren't a bunch of interactive movies in our future.

Agree. Great experience. Probably not as worthwhile of copy/pasting into a whole genre of gaming as, say, Doom (or anything Id makes, really).

What they need to do is take everything but quick time events and start putting them in all games. That would allow everyone to play a game to more of there liking in return selling more of the game. Of course we can just stick to generic story's and such.

I sure hope not. Game wasn't that great...seriously. Beat it. Bad story. 50% of the game is you walking around doing mundane tasks like peeing, cooking, etc. The action scenes were fun but they were few and far between. Madison was completely useless as a character, still never figured out why she was in the game. Jayden was the best but he felt under utilized. His ARI glasses were a little too sci-fi in respect to the rest of the story but it was the most intriguing aspect of the game.

I loved the game, but I hope it's not the future of gaming. It could be the future of interactive movies, sure, but not "gaming".

Heavy rain was 5% crappy game, and 95% very entertaining movie. If you took all those QTE events and decision-tree moments, but had a crappy story with crappy acting it would suck beyond sucking. Contrast this with a well-made FPS that has a lame story, but it still pretty fun to play (which is pretty much all of them, honestly.. including the grand daddies like Doom and Wolfenstein).

I don't mind seeing HR's crappy gameplay engine re-used if it's paired with a similarly awesome storyline/plot. But I have two main hopes from this:
#1 I hope the mechanic is not assumed to be the part that was good, and the market is flooded with crappy QTE games
#2 That nobody recognizes that the 5% wasn't really fun on its own, thus never attempts to improve the quality of that 5%
