When Capcom woke up this morning, it decided it would like to have roughly a bajillion more dollars by this time next year. It walked over to a secret panel in its foyer, slid it open and pressed a button inside, labeled "New Monster Hunter." A press release was instantaneously launched announcing Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, the next PSP-based entry in the franchise, due out in Japan in late 2010.
The announcement heralds new monsters and areas to explore, an expanded "Felyne Comrade" system (we're pretty sure that's Russian for "cat friend") and improved co-op play. There's no word on plans for localization, but Capcom's been pretty diligent in unleashing the Monster Hunter series worldwide. You can get your first look at the outrageously large-sworded title in a trailer posted after the jump.
[Thanks Krystian!]

Well we can be sure to expect this to sell 4 million and hang on the chartz for the next few years.

- Felyne fighter combat/AI has been revised.
- More emphasis on graphics and sound quality.
- A better communication system is added (probably making use of a keyboard/PS3/microphone on PSP).
- Infrastructure support added.
- No underwater combat, it is to remain exclusive to MH3.
- The game is situated in Yukumo, an oriental village.
- This is a start from scratch, much like MH3 no save file continuation from MHP2G many new features will be added.
- Felyne fighter armor/weapon can be customized/upgraded adding more depth and attention for them.
- There will be less content (quest wise, which should reflect upon the amount of armors/weapons created) than MHP2G (currently holding the content title, if you exclude Frontier)
That 4th one looks rather nice.

Finally!! I was getting tired of MHFU already!
Things I notice on this trailer:
- 2 Comrade Cats (One of them wearing what it looks like a Rathalos Armor and the other a Chamelos armor?)
- The Switch Axe from MH Tri
- New Monsters, Monsters from Tri (Maybe Monsters from MH Frontier too?)
- The general Asian theme
- Complete new Areas
- New Felyne attack skills
What else did you notice?

Count me in, you don't realise how happy this has made me :D
Okay, here are my desires:
- Please lessen potion etc drinking animation time (very annoying)
- More multiplayer options, why do I need to connect via PS3, Socom can do it :/
- Larger maps
- Less loading time
- More freedom with weapon / armour creation
I'm flexible with everything else :P

@Spunky Monkey- I agree, it will be nice if they add infrastructure mode and the ability to use the PSP headset/microphone like I used with SOCOM: FTB1. AdHoc Party for PS3 is cool, but for a game like this, it shouldn't be needed.
Also, I'll likely get flamed for this, but please move the camera controls to something like this:
L/R buttons- move camera (tap both together to center)
D-pad Scroll thru items (Use item with Square like it is now)
D-pad up/down- Raise/Lower camera viewpoint
I know we use the R button for some weapon skills, but honestly, there has to be a more comfortable way to set up the controls.
I don't need lock-on (in fact, I prefer to keep the gameplay close to the same), but the camera solution is an easy one, in my opinion.
