Sadly you can't use all of them in one play through, but this is the kind of game that draws me in, a lot of variety in weapons.

I really liked that there were so many weapons, it really gave you great choice. I mean, a weapon that my friend always used, I wouldn't like to use and vise versa.

I played through just one time and still felt that "many guns all the same" was a flaw, so does that count?

@ feepness

Totally counts. The gun selection is watered down. Too much variety.

I liked how there was such a big variety... but sometimes it felt like you had 30 of the same gun but same specs which felt annoying at times.

Sorting through 30 weapons and not being to sort by relative level is annoying.

Yeah, tell me about it.

What's worse is when you have say for instance, a +4 incendiary weapon that does 85 damage, vs a +3 incendiary weapon that does 100 damage. How am I supposed to know which weapon is actually more effective other than trial and error and assessing some gut feeling that one is stronger than the other?

It's even worse when the elemental effect isn't the same type (+4 incendiary with 85 damage vs +3 electrical weapon that does 100, as tweaked example from above).

What I do, is times damage by rate of fire, includes any extras.. then judge that against accuracy/recoil - usually trying them out. Then with elemental stats, I think of it as lv1 is an extra quarter (1.25) to lv4 which is double damage (2.0)

@kentuckyfried: Check here:http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Borderlands_Wiki
a gun that has 85 dmg with 4x elemental actually has 190 net damage
(x4 elemental multiplier doubles base damage). Of course multiply that number by your speed to get your base DPS.

The 100 dmg weapon is weaker, since it has an x3 multiplier. (x3 multiplier increases the base damage by 75%)

Also don't forget different elements damage different enemies more so then others. That's def the trick to killing kromerax. He takes no extra damage from elements I noticed. But his minions are different. Shock for the worms. Fire for the green ones. And chemical on the purple ones. Otherwise they take little to no damage.. Even with criticals.

I just love how Borderlands is almost all about looting. It's the thrill of the hunt! And I really love that so much in a game. It gives me a reason to keep playing it. In other games I can only kill the bad guy so many times before I get bored. But in Borderlands it's just this thing that keeps me coming back for more. A lot of the guns do suck, which is a shame. But the game is still a lot of fun to play.

16,164,886. Is that all? Haha! I think most games do with about 25 (max). That's just me though since I usually find a gun I like near the start and stick with it throughout. That's just me though.

Impressive system though.

Good catch.

What a terrible result to the idea they're going after.

I mean seriously. Couldn't they go "Hey, maybe we should redo this, since you know, us saying there are 87 bazillion guns seems a bit silly when we have a duplicate gun in a list of about 20"

oh, Gearboxx...

Oh gods, I never thought I'd get to the point, but the last thing I need now is money.

When I die, it costs me, seriously, seven MILLION dollars.

And my counter doesn't change from 9,999,999...

So my only pulse on how much money I really have is the amount it costs me when I die. When I reach about 3 million, I know I've got to be concerned.

Fortunately Team Ninja didn't make this game, otherwise to get all of the achievements you'd have to buy every single one of them and gift them to Lilith, and hope she doesn't throw them away.

To tout such a huge number of guns, they really should have had more visual variety. Less guns but more uniqueness in each may have been more satisfying.

I enjoyed the game enough (as a sniper-focused Siren) to get a bit into my second playthrough, but to be honest the online experience killed it for me. On my own I could take it a little more seriously, but it seemed so arcadey watching players zoom around punching enemies and whatnot when I finally tried the coop.

Yeah the co-op isn't really that great. If you know the people it's pretty fun (as long as said people don't run around like idiots the whole time) and that's enough for me really. I'd like more, but I figure they'll improve where they need to for the next one. One think I'd like to be able to do is take the scopes off of guns. Because I have found some pretty nice SMGs that have scopes and it's just stupid when they have a shitty range.

Good weapon depth became imparative with General Knoxx. Always have a good corrosive, fire, electric and regular gun at your disposal at all time, with a mix of long and short range.

I always have a minimum of 10 gun to fill a different purpose. Beat Crawmerax last night.
Woot!

In CoH, there's very little loot, but there is an option to disable common loot drops, which is awesome at mid-high level where they are just clutter. This would be a nice option for Borderlands where you just don't care about a common (white) gun drop after a certain level because it won't be better than any of your own guns, and won't sell for enough to make it worth picking up. This may cut out 10,000,000 or so of the available guns, but I think it'd still make a nice QoL feature.
