Those guys lack so much imagination. they could have taken this concept to a place where it was not a direct rip off of Zelda. oh well, i'll still likely pick it up. its just such a rip off at the same time.

These days most games are rip offs of another game. Just like most movies are rip offs of other movies. There are gems that stick out but even some of the great titles we play/see are generally a rip in some fashion.

These guys made Demon's Souls...don't tell me they don't know what imagination is.

At least its not some lame multi-player FPS.

Don't know where you got the idea that it's even remotely like Zelda. Drugs?

@Spike

Sure, but this is Zelda 1 with 3D graphics, its such a copy that it boarders on copy right protection lawsuits. everything from the design to the music are a copy of Zelda. dont get me wrong, i wish nintendo would release a game a lot like this, but its plain to see exactly where they got the majority of their ideas. one single game. thats not very impressive.

again as long as it is fun, i'll play it. but that does not mean im impressed by there game design.

I can respect your point of view on the matter. Just with entertainment these days we have to take what we can get and base it off our own judgement.

In Japan, it's pretty common (and accepted) to do 'ripoffs'. Why do you think Kojima is hugely popular, despite the fact that he rips off a lot of pop culture (like Snatcher being a Blade Runner rip-off)?

@spike #2

Oh i know we pretty much are going to have to deal with rip offs, its just that this one is so blatant that its kind of annoying.

again, like i said before, this does not make it a bad game, it looks bun and i'll likely buy it. but they could have tried harder to create their fantasy world.

Well did Activision say anything when Rock Band was released? They never filed a lawsuit against Harmonix with the button layout, some of the songs and guitar peripheral were the same. (Btw RB is wayy better than GH ;) ). Im not saying this game IS better than Zelda, but its nice to know that people respect it.

the guys behind rock band made the genre and included a lot more with what they came out with. not really comparable.

I dunno SmilinGoat. People tend to take a wrong turn in conversations such as these. I mean personally, it's your opinion. You are entitled to that. If that is how you perceive the game then so be it. But understand a lot of people get their panties in a twist over such topics.

All in all the game could be great as you say. I understand you aren't trashing it. You are simply making an observation.

Wow. Not sure why you got all the downvotes.

I mean, I disagree with you a bit, since the point of the game seems to be to lovingly homage the earlier generations of gaming, and I personally feel like borrowing the aesthetic from games of that era (specifically Zelda and Dragon Quest) is an integral part of that equation - but you didn't come off as a troll or rude or anything. Just a person with a different opinion. People are weird.

Making a parody of a 23 year old video game obviously isn't original at all. I played a game just like this last week. To make it worse they're selling it for $40, which is a huge ripoff.

"Rip-off" is clearly the intent. It's called parody. When a game comes out in 2010 with graphics like that and you complain, I think you're probably missing the point.

Also, I don't recall originality ever being a deciding factor in the purchase of a video game now, or ever. I'm sure you would have no problem buying an ACTUAL new Zelda game, even though the only real change in the series since N64 has been the graphics. Why anyone would single out this game and complain about it's lack of originality when pretty much every game follows the example of numerous other titles is beyond me.

It's a Zelda spoof, okay. That's why it looks and plays like Zelda.

He's talking about the graphics like they are new and awesome but they are plain and pretty crappy. 720p?! WOW.. This game should be running 1080 because of how it looks.
Now I'm not saying graphics are everything, it looks kinda fun but this guy needs to talk about the game, now how great the water looks (which it doesn't..)

Natively at 720p. The visuals he was praising through the video didn't seem that apparent to me. The water looks great? I don't see why this game couldn't have been bumped to 1080p with its relatively minimal graphical endowments. Not saying I won't play it, I will, but it almost seemed like what he was saying was mostly sarcastic when he referred to anything the game offers.

Why lower other graphical settings like dynamic shadows or anti-aliasing for a higher resolution you won't even notice unless you're sitting directly in front of a 50+ inch HD TV?

This is one of those cases where resolution doesn't really make any difference. They are blocks guy. Blocks. They don't have textures mapped onto them, because they are colored blocks. Higher res colored blocks wouldn't look any better than lower res colored blocks. If your argument is that they should have allowed for smaller blocks (going after a 16 bit look instead of 8-bit) that is one thing, but the resolution doesn't matter here.

The game IS a Zelda for NES knock off hell even has the Six sages story and the WW opening about the hero and same type of art on of the trailers.
Some screen shots show the hero torturing chickens and the chest openings just like Zelda.
It's more than a Zelda clone,it's a straight copy with the hero's clothes changed.

Still looks fun and like the 3d style.

Game Maker exists for the PC, and I swear that there was a PS2 game that let you make an RPG. Not quite the same thing, but still.

Well he did mention the install thing might completely eliminate some of them.

But see, that itself is a problem. Do I install the game and miss out on some of the cool loading screen art or do I just play it as is and deal with tons of loading screens?

The game does look like ass. Yeah, I understand it's supposed to be "retro" looking but the things he says about the graphics are sadly hilarious. I feel sorry for anyone that laughs at this man's lame jokes. I was bored watching the game and would probably be even more so if I had to play it. Definitely one to watch (out) for.

Mr. Jabbari belongs on QVC or HSN, though. Lol. Remember, this is the dude that sniffed that Demon's Souls manual until he got a buzz.

We all do it, but this man does it like no other. A natual born salesman.

Am I missing something?

This is actually going to be a BD released game? This looks like a PSN Store $5 download game. And he's actually sitting here bragging about how great the graphics are, this game looks like a PS2 game. .

And how on earth could you have graphics this simple and still need loading screens all over the place?

I'll admit the game looks very fun, although being almost an exact nes/snes era zelda derivative. But still, you don't expect me to drop $60 on something like this.

seriously i dont understand where half of you get off saying this game isnt worth 40 dollars. most of you probably didnt have a problem shelling out 60 bucks for halo odst or cod mw2 and those games took all of 5 hours to beat yet 40 bucks for this single player adventure is reported at 20 to 25 hours and thats a rip off? seriously?? this game is fantastic, much better than 3/4 of the drool that comes out nowadays. just because games today run in 1080 doesnt make them better, it makes them polished turds. i for one am just flat out disgusted with most of the releases today. this is a sparkling gem in the crap filled wasteland that is gaming today. if you dont agree with me who cares i wont lose any sleep over it. good day!
