Maybe Nier comics will help us understand Nier

Want to understand what Nier's all about, you know, besides yelling at books? Square Enix is giving us all a chance to study the backstory of Cavia's action RPG, with a Nier comic series produced by DC's Wildstorm Studios. The three-part series will tell three separate, but overlapping, stories in the Nier universe before the game's April 27 release date.

In addition to introducing the main characters -- including Nier himself, his "disease-stricken" daughter, Yonah, a "conflicted" companion in Kaine, and the talking book "with an attitude," Grimoire Weiss -- the comics will reveal what caused the "Black Scrawl" disease and the cataclysmic event that led to the condition of the world (as it is in the game).

The Nier comics will be available on the Nier website, and through the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store. See the cover of the first issue after the break.

And then I read that those balloons will give you a disease. So I looked at the rest of the picture.

Nier comics certainly help me understand female anatomy.

I'm inclined to believe they will only confuse. I can't say I've seen a woman with a chest that large, white hair, and a young, athletic (with one super-hamstring) build irl.

Japanese developers, please, enough with the hermaphrodite/transgender characters disguised as attractive shapely women. Between Poison and the Guilty Gear series I don't know which way is up anymore.

Have they explained the differences between the two versions yet? Oh, and boobies.

The two US versions are the same.

It's the two Japanese versions that are different. The JP 360 is the same game that we're getting on both consoles, whereas the Japanese PS3 version features a younger Nier and a slightly different story (saving his sister instead of saving his daughter).

If you stop looking at the bewbs for like two second, you'll immediately notice how horrific, disproportioned, and horrid that artwork is. eww.

Judging by the thighs, I think that might be Chun-Li's sister. Judging by the comments, it might be her brother.

Every time I hear something new about this game, I hate it more. And I dont know why...

I assume that the woman isn't Nier but in fact the diseased daughter, perhaps indicated by bandages. Why she's holding a pair of swords, I don't know.

I wonder what she's sick with that means her wearing bandages but able to wear such skimpy outfits - can't be good for you in cold weather, you know!

I also wonder why there is a face in that fellow's blade...
