Man does remind me of the N64 days. At first glance I thought it was Diddy Kong Racing.

Yeah, I still play Diddy Kong Racing on an emulator.

I hope that PSP Phone rumor is true. The catalog of games I want to buy on the PSP is growing, but I really want to wait to see what's in store for E3...

The Joystiq staff seems to like the idea, and even I myself would consider buying a PSP phone if it was done right.

Most important question: Can you make a level on the PS3 version and download it on the PSP version?

No the tracks are specific to each platform, they said so in the Joystiq interview

My PSP still gets daily play, after years of owning one.

If you seriously can't find anything to play on it.. wow.

I agree with Ezio. PSP is amazing. If you cant find anything to play on it then you just arent looking

I disagree with Ezio, if you could play the obviously superior version at home why bother with Psp version?

Any idea if they're going to try and upgrade the track editor Andrew? I'm guessing not, considering the time of release, but you did say "Hands on" not "Review", and that usually indicates there's time for change....

May 25th, so there's still time. If they release it as a download game and not UMD, they would have even more time.

I'm more interested in if there is any connectivity between the PS3 and PSP versions. I would love to, say, transfer my PS3 save files to my PSP and back. That would probably push me over the fence on getting both copys.

That way I wouldn't have to start from scratch when I play for only 20 minutes on the bus every day.

There's no actual connectivity between the two systems, except for being able to unlock bonus content on PSP.

i love that this great concept is coming to the PSP.
however, as someone who plays PSP games regularly, and will also be buying a PS3 shortly, i don't see the PSP version moving as many copies as the PS3 version.
i mean, sure the PSP version will have online, but is this something that will be as popular as online play will be on the PS3?

i mean, for this reason, i think i'd prefer the PS3 version over the PSP version - even though i fully love my PSP.

am i alone on this?

I'll probably end up picking up both.

I think racing games are my favorite 'on the go' genre to play. And another fun little racer to fire up on the PSP is always welcome.

Yeah, it's a tough choice. I bought Tekken 6 for PS3 instead of Tekken 6 PSP, BUT I bought Dark Resurrection on my PSP because it was an improved version of Tekken 5...

Maybe that would be a better idea for releasing a PSP version of a game. Release the PS3 version for a couple of months, build up fanbase, and then release an improved PSP version with the same functions but some tweaks to keep it interesting.

Do people Prefer Mario Kart Wii over Mario Kart DS? Who cares! They're different systems with different purposes- it's about time the PSP got a run kart racer. The Burnout games are still awesome, and Wipeout (forget which one I have) still looks/plays beautifully, but I was really hoping for Sonic & Sega All Stars to have a PSP port... all of that to say, I am happy about a fun polished kart racer for the PSP. No need to compare it to the PS3 version...because that really doesn't make sense.

To be fair, this is in 3D. NES from what I remember had no 3D games.

@Abi- No 3D games on NES? Maybe you are too young. World Runner was awesome- and it had 3D glasses!

Wow- imagine that. All this talk about 3D gaming and we had it on the NES... just WOW.

Can anyone clarify if the PSP version is a different game (like LBP PSP) or if it's just a port of the PS3 version?

"but rarely has a portable rendition of a PS3 game remained so faithful to the original as ModNation Racers on PSP."

That line right there just cost me $100 worth of software. I gotta have both.
