@Brian

An infrared port (IR port) common in electronic devices uses light. You might be referring to infrared imaging which does use electromagnetic radiation.

P.S. Don't talk down to people without knowing what you're talking about.

Many people depend on the memory card to move their Gamertag between consoles. If they take away the memory cards then they better let you keep your account on a USB thumb drive. Otherwise it's not very convenient for people who use multiple Xbox 360's to carry around a HDD with them.

"The motherboard seems to appear THROUGH them, not reflected off them."

No, it is reflected. You can see the SATA connection.

This change would present MS with the difficult task of explaining why they said that 3rd party memory cards had to be banned because they allow hacking. Would not this allow hacking too?

Memory cards are not useless. I have 2 xboxes and move my gamer tag and current save games back and forth all the time. It's a really good solution for that!

My guess would be a MU to USB adapter available later as an over priced accessory!

This whole issue with there being no area to attach the xbox hdd thats bull.First off if you cant attach it this isnt real. They will never take a step backward and let the ps3 carry a 120gb and not let you attach a 120 or bigger microsoft drive. They just started manufacturing the 250gb and you cant store much content on two 16gb drives. As for the toslink. They wouldnt include that because they know for every person that uses hdmi and needs to send audio to a reciever with no hdmi they need toslink so they need there dongle which they make 50 dollars from.

There not gonna drop two money making products there hdd and there dongle to make something cheaper. Its about squeezing every cent you can and by doing this they would lose money.

If the slims real remove the toslink and add a port for the hdd and then you can say its true otherwise bs.

Well, I'm hoping for two things:
1) internal Wi-Fi antenna, the external accessory is too much expensive
2) internal memory card like the Jaspers, it's not useless, everyone is buyng an Arcade model is happy to find the memory inside and don't have to buy a hard disk.
For the rest, let's see what the future has ready for us ;)

so outside of the silk screened xbox360 on the chip in the middle what else indicated this is a real xbox board and not someone playing with a silk screening machine at work and pulling a fast one on everyone?

Regarding the lack of Wi-Fi...Why is everyone still expecting built in wi-fi? It will never happen. Not because they are cheap or want to charge for the peripheral, but because they don't want information leaks. Any device including wi-fi means an application with the FCC which is public. Lots of info has leaked from there in the past.

This is also why they will also never go Blu-ray as it would mean giving Sony (the patent holder) a heads up on any new console.

Is there a fault in this reasoning? If so, I'm sure it will be quickly pointed out.

Oh, and the Blu-ray thing? No. Sure if MS were going to make a Blu-ray drive then they'd have to license the patents but they're not going to do that. (Who do you think makes the DVD drives in Xbox 360s? It's not Microsoft. Oh, and who do you think owns a good chunk of the patent rights on DVD? Right - Sony.) They'd just buy drives from somebody... and probably not Sony.

If their next system has an optical drive it would be pretty crazy not to use Blu-ray.

Damn I just did an article like this on my blog. I did 2 or 3 updates on it after seeing Ben's speculation. I also speculate on whats not shown by these images. Please tell me what you think.

Am I the only one who would rather not have an internal HDD? I like to move my Hard Drive between consoles if I can use the big TV downstairs. There's two Xboxes, so all I need to do is unclick the HD and plug it into the other console.

Seems to me that you could just use a USB Memory Unit to accomplish the same thing. No clicky required.

I'm actually not sure what swapping drives really accomplishes anyway as licensed content is tied to the console or the profile and even the old 64MB MU is big enough to transfer most saves/profiles from system to system.

My wish list: USB 3.0, wifi, and no damn brick.
Its still just speculation though, we don't even know if they are making a slim model.

actually, no, and id like to make a correction, its more like tiwisted metal 5, or 6, but the original 4, psone games, werre soooo classic, in gameplay terms.......

and its more like mark of kri 3, after mark of kri, and rise of the kasai, a bit similar to ico, shadow , gardian, they will all have different names.

there have also been many syphon filters, im not personally interested in them, or those types of games, games with guns are ten a penny now, and i rarly buy them, one a year i would say, like to try new genre every time.......but still....there exclusive.

and its suppost to say ucharted 3 but its cut off...

and also @petermoore, i do love what youve done with the quality of ea, facebreaker could have been a good(selling) title as well, i still believe there was(is) room for arcade an boxer, after ready to rumble on dreamcast, ...the best. but facebreaker almost captured the feeling, it was just, say, 8% too fast to play. hehe.

shame there. on the plus side, ssx will be .. i had to leave a blank,. as no words will do it any justice. all drum n' bass for race events / hip hop for freestyle events please. plenty of scratching, but using nice chaaaahs not schhhhsss as they distort, dj atomik knows .

@Zachary, not disagreeing with you, I said "The newer PS2 slims don't have an external power adapter." I think it's amazing how Sony has been able to slim down the slim even more.

An externally-mounted hard drive (as the current 360 uses) would make more sense from a thermal point of view. Even small, efficient hard drives give off a fair bit of heat and anything MS can do to prevent another entire generation of defective consoles would probably be a good idea.

I don't have a 360 myself, I don't know how the current hard drives attach, but maybe the extra SATA port will lead to an external HDD connector?

Hmm... this is promising. My 360 RROD'd a few months ago and rather than buying a new one at the time, I decided to just wait until the new revision is released... Hopefully it's cheaper too. If it's legit, it'll be nice to have a fan mounted directly to the heatsink instead of the nonsensical ducting they have on the older models which, let's be honest, doesn't work as intended. It's matter of simple fluid dynamics really... Ahhh, the idiotic design flaws of the older 360 seem to be dissipating with this new board.
