God of War website teases 'Spartans Stand Tall'

Earning a Platinum Trophy in God of War III will give you an elusive reward: a link to a secret page, hidden on the God of War website. The "Spartans Stand Tall" website doesn't feature much right now, other than falling rain and a shield with an upside-down V, possibly a Lambda sign -- wait, does this mean we're finally getting the Half-Life/God of War crossover we've been waiting for?

This could simply be a placeholder website for upcoming God of War DLC. Or, this could be hinting at a new Ready at Dawn-developed PSP game we've heard murmurs about. In fact, Chains of Olympus was revealed in exactly the same way, via a website hidden in God of War II on PS2. Considering the franchise's penchant for announcing new installments alongside the latest releases, we wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a brand new game in the God of War universe. Stay tuned.

Spartan IIs and IIIs stand taller.

Literally the armor adds about 2 feet, not to mention the surgeries.

I say the upside-down V is actually a V (the shield will turn?) and it means we'll see the 5th game soon, possibly a PSP game, maybe a downloadable one for PS3.

Not sure I buy that. Why would they skip over 4? I know there was the PSP game, but GoWIII is exactly that... 3. Skipping to 5 would imply that GoWIII is actually GoWIV. Unless they're going to announce two games.

It'll probably not even be GoW IV.
If it's a new game, I bet it'll be something on the CoO scale, and when they make GoW IV, then that will be something at least as huge as GoW III

I'm pretty sure that upside down V shows up on the shields when you use one of Kratos' new abilities. It's the one that creates the phalanx around him.

I believe the V actually means that there will be 5 player co-op, since Santa Monica Studios said that they really wanted co-op put into God of War but needed a situation that would make sense.

The V is simply the the emblem of Sparta. Such as the one they have on their shields. The shape isn't the same, but that could artistic license.

Kinda looks like the opposite of the RROD. God of War on the 360 CONFIRMED.

It's not an upside-down V. The (real) Spartan army used Lambda as one of their symbols and they would paint it on their shields. If nothing else, at least the development team did the research.

Yeah, exactly. They called themselves Lacedaemons, not Spartans, so they used a lambda (Greek L) on their shields. Apparently most Greeks called Sparta Lacedaemonia, I don't know where the name change came from.

They dropped it after the realized what the custom firmware was 'really' being used for. Everyone makes mistakes.

God of War 3 was so epic, Im sad the trilogy is over. Or is it?

GoW featuring Kratos as the main character? Probably. But the GoW franchise is most likely far from being over.

I kind of hope it's over, because Kratos pretty much exhausted the world's supply of anything larger and more aggressive than a bunny rabbit over the course of the three titles (and I presume he killed some things on the PSP version). The ending of GoW3... well, it's too early to have that discussion, but if you've seen it and sat through the credits, you know what I'm talking about.

I wasn't that thrilled with the ending, personally. I'll leave it at that.

Well I wouldn't be surprised if they continue the franchise. GoW is one of Sony's most popular gaming franchise, it's the closest they have to a Halo game (BEFORE ANYONE JUMPS ON ME I'M TALKING ABOUT POPULARITY NOT QUALITY) so I don't think they'll let them be done with it

this doesn't really spoil the game... but there have been references made that suggests a new storyline that would follow Kratos' brother

Speaking of platinum trophy, now I'm on my second runthrough on very hard difficulty, it took me two and half hours to pass the first boss. I'll try some more tomorrow, cause right now my eyes are burning and I have a headache, it's just so frustrating.

Seriously, though, I'm not ready for another title yet. If this is DLC, that's fine, but I hope they give it a while before they make another game. I'm GoW'd out.
