Jamie Foxx to play Lynch in Kane and Lynch film

According to the Twitter account of Kane and Lynch screenwriter Kyle Ward, it seems that Lynch will be played by Academy Award winning actor ... Jamie Foxx. Huh? Tweeting last night that it's a "Done deal ... Jamie Foxx is in," Ward outed the star of Ray as one half of the game adaptation's titular team (Bruce Willis is allegedly signed on for the role of Kane).

When asked about whether Foxx would be playing Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted film (also being written by Ward, though he was said to be taken off writing duties some time ago), he clarified, "Foxx for Lynch (Kane/Lynch)," pinning Foxx to the long-haired half of the duo. What's really surprising is that the film's producers didn't go with Kevin Gage (Heat's "Waingro"). Come on -- they look identical!

I got you Mike. Just "Remember the Time" I helped you out so that later if I make fun of you, you won't "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin" with me in which case I would tell you to "Beat it" and then you would "Scream". Then the Joystiq community would witness a "Thriller" of an Internet fight. I would no doubt win said fight because you know I'm "Bad", I'm "Bad". But don't worry, I think you're awesome and I like "The Way you Make Me Feel" and "I Can't Stop Loving" you so just "Leave Me Alone" and we'll be cool. Maybe we can "Jam" together sometime though. Perhaps "Heal the World" by combining our Powers together.

I really don't know which is worse, Foxx playing Lynch or Nathan Drake. Those are just both terrible casting choices.

How about just having Nolan North play both Lynch and Drake instead?

Nolan North should definitely play Drake if the Uncharted film comes to be, but here's to hoping it doesn't unless it can buck the videogame to movie adaptation trend.

Geez wouldn't that be terrible if he played Nathan? I'd have to break into every theater in my local area and destroy the films!

Now there's a movie I'd watch. Batman renders some righteous revenge on the rich writers in Hollywood.

Because, you know, they wanted the actor to look as much as the game character as possible. Makes sense.

Weaving is currently recovering from Trilogy overdose.

The thing is, this is the perfect game-movie to do this with.

Because anything you do to the movie, no matter ill conceived, will only be an improvement over the source material.

If good games make crap movies, do crap games make good movies?

However it does indicate a negative proportionality between the quality of the film and the game.

Jamie Foxx is a great actor and has an amazing range. If anyone could turn a shitty game into a decent movie it would be him.

And then turn it shit again because the script sucks and the characters look nothing like the game :)

well i agree with you on the Foxx sentiment. i can't think of anything i've seen him in, or Bruce Willis for that matter, that i didn't like. but still.....Foxx as Lynch? come on....

who am i kidding, i wouldn't have gone and seen it regardless.

Jamie Foxx has no range, he is extremely overrated. And this is a joke on both fronts, a movie made out of this horrible, bargain bin game, and Foxx playing the role of a white character. Hollywood at its finest.

I still do believe that Kane & Lynch could work as a film. Sure it was a shitty game, but I thought the characters were fairly interesting.

But seriously? Jamie Foxx? Is this like the opposite of white-washing? Black-washing?

uuuuuh, let me guess. They wanted a "gamer" to play the part.

"Yeah, I like Madden and Modern Warfare. Touchdowns and shooting people are the sh!t."
