NSMB did it too. Why is this bad for doing it but that wasn't?

I never passed opinion on NSMB, but regardless it's not about the fact that they've utilized 3D, it's about the execution. In Mario's case, some of the animations might be a little weird (man, does that guy flail his arms when he starts running), but they have at least maintained a general consistency in the look and proportions of the character. Mario's face is recognizably Mario's face.

The new Sonic, however, looks and moves very differently. His proportions are dramatically changed and his movements seem much slower. Hey, it might be a great game and people might love it, but on first impression it fails to ignite the genesis-era-sonic-fan flame within me because Sonic himself seems a downgrade from those games. In moving to 3D, they haven't managed to recreate the stylization that made Sonic iconic.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has an issue with the look of this new Sonic.

Did you try to push that little button under the article that reads "source?" cause my guess is that you didn't even take the time to look around.

In Matt's defense, I thought the same thing. I never noticed that Source button. I did assume that clicking on the giant screenshot would do something though, and luckily I was correct.

for you kids bitching about what the bad guys name is in the UK. Im from scotland, im 35 and got sonic 1 when it first came out trust me he is called robotnik on the bloody box!

im boycotting because as with fable i refuse to pay for episodic game, thats like buying half a belt! because you can get the rest later doesnt mean it does what its supposed to when u have only 1 peice

That's a terrible comparison, half a belt is useless while half a game for half the price is useful. Episodic games are like watching an episode of a show on tv, you don't have to watch the whole series if you don't like the first episode.

yes, but what's the point in them? why not just be normal and release a full game and then make dlc?

They release episodic games because they're not finished making the full product but are too greedy and want money now

Splash Hill Zone Act 1...it sounds like a midi file from a Sonic Fan game made in The Games Factory or Multimedia Fusion. :|

I don't get it. Is Sonic 4 a new Sonic or a remake? I can't tell, as half the levels look identical/exactly the same to older games.

The more I see and hear of this game the more I dislike it. Please let Sonic die Sega. I am still worried about the episodic part how much will it be and how long per episode?

"rodent-racing platformer"
I'm sorry, but are hedgehogs rodents? Always thought they ate bugs, worms and whatnot. Or can any small mammal be referred to as "rodent" in English?

Well, being an insectivore doesn't make you a non-rodent.
A rodent is merely a mammal that has two continuously growing front teeth that need to be kept shortened by gnawing. Rodents can eat insects.

You're right to say that hedgehogs aren't rodents, but... porcupines are rodents, so it's kinda' safe to assume a hedgehog is too without sounding like an idiot.

So hedgehogs are no rodents because they don't have rodent teeth? All I needed to know. I was wondering if "rodent" might be a term to summarize small mammals in colloquial speech like people sometimes refer to any invertebrate that lives in their garden as "bug". Thanks for clarifying.
