Chaos Theory was the best Splinter Cell in my opinion. And its co-op was ahead of its time.
Conviction looks like it's along that pedigree. I have an absolute...
*pulls down NV goggles*
...conviction to play it as soon as possible.
(I would "YEEAAHHH", but I'm infiltrating a building right now)

Oh man, then you missed out on Chaos Theory which was by far the best one of them all (until hopefully Conviction)

Are you kidding? Chaos Theory was the best in the series, and is still one of my favorite games.

Seriously. If they only made Chaos Theory and no other games ever, Ubi Montreal would be one of the best studios, period.

I disagree. Chaos Theory a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best video game ever.

your opinion has been ignored.
@Obie
You cant say it is your opinion if you have not played Chaos Theroy, that is just plain ignorance. There is no way you would think the series went downhill with that game if you played it.

I don't see how there can be two games so dramatically different with the same name yet one that is better received no marketing? If it is the best game ever made (lol opinions my fav series is not even splinter cell) I don't see how no one knows about it. But....considering the reviews i just looked at I will check it out.

I refer to multiplayer and co-op as separate things, yes.
If you want to get into technicalities co-op is a form of multiplayer, but you know what I mean by it. Some kind of versus mode, something competitive rather than cooperative. Something like Spy vs Merc, in which case if it is not in the game yes it has been taken out. So there, you are corrected.

The demo was pretty good but I thought the controls were a little touchy. Maybe I'm wrong because Mr. Matos here is a freakin pro.
I didn't infiltrate the building like he did and ran into much more problems with the guards. It also took me longer to get past there than he did.
One thing I did find annoying is that some of the guards are constantly repeating themselves. (maybe that was because I was sneaking around too much and waited to long to kill the targets but w/e)

It was enjoyable, but it certainly felt it was no longer pure stealth. Being very stealthy felt more difficult, as the game seemed to guide you into doing more of a combination of stealth/action. By comparison, in previous titles it was generally more difficult to run and gun- and you were pushed to use stealth more. I don't mean that in a negative way, because it was pretty fun- but (judging from this demo and other gameplay vids) there does seem to be a shift occurring in what Splinter Cell is, with more of a focus on action-badassery. The whole demo felt like being in a Bourne movie actually.

The development team that is working on Conviction is responsible for SC1 & Chaos Theory. Meaning, they make the good ones. It isn't by chance that Chaos Theory is one of my all time favorite games, but I couldn't bring myself to finish Pandora Tomorrow or Double Agent. I played the demo, it felt like a mix of SC and Arkham Asylum (which I 100% loved). It felt just a little bit clunky, but I think I just need to learn the systems (controls) better. I'm definitely excited for the full game.

I just don't know about the demo. The controls were a little wonky, the shadows to remain hidden seemed random or at least hard to discern, and it seemed too easy after being seen (i like stealth-or-death). Also the graphics, particularly the character models, were definitely sub-par for this point in time. I remember Double Agent looking better, to be honest.
What I really like is the mark and execute, but it seems a little strange to have to take somebody down every time you want to use it.
I'll probably still pick it up if the reviews are good, since a demo sometimes doesn't speak fully on a game, and since coop looks to be fun.

Yeah, that was my experience also, profeteer. Although, I felt the amount of damage you could take was reasonable – you don't go down after two hits, but you're no sponge either.
Whoever did the playthrough was about 10x better than I was, but I also imagine they had more previous experience with the controls than me.

I climbed up the gutter next to the warehouse window, but could only pull LT to drop at that point. Pushing on the direction stick or hitting any buttons did nothing for me. How did he go over to the window ledge and climb in?
Was anyone else not able to grab the ledge, or is my Sam Fisher retared on my xbox 360...cuz, you know, that happens all the time. = )

Really liked the demo. Very new to this series so don't have much to compare it to but I find the graphics looked good and game play felt very smooth.
Control at first are a little tricky but once you get used to them they become easy to use.
Knew this game was going to be good but not this good so definitely pre-order for me.

Was disappointed in it, AI sucks, can't drag bodies, snatching someone using stealth usually gets you discovered, dragging people off to the dark sucks, no good sniper gun (in the demo), getting away is super easy, demo was super short, and no MP (wanted to try the 1vs1 spies) or co-op in the demo... I'll be waiting for the game cheapo, like $20, before I buy...

I must've been playing a different demo than all the people who are gushing over Conviction. I've been a huge Splinter Cell fan and have been rabidly awaiting Conviction, but the demo just made me sad. The controls felt like Sam was walking on ice (ie: he took half a step to actually stop when you release the controls) and the close-up character graphics (like the bad guy in the glasses) looked like they were rendered back in 2003. Even if it was a "in game" cut scene instead of a CGI movie, those "slab" faces were just horrible.
In all honestly, I'll probably still pick up the title because I love the franchise, but the demo has made me think of this as a $40 "on sale" title rather than the $60 "release day" game I was anticipating.
