Here's the thing about Portal: we love it so much, we want to know everything about it. Like, the dude that came up with that Test Chamber 14 setup? Yeah, tell us all about him and whether he was upset or proud that somebody figured out how to get through it in five seconds. That's why this Game Informer video is so fascinating.
It's a brief documentary on both the DigiPen students and Valve veterans that created Portal -- and are subsequently now working on Portal 2. It's like a video diary of completely attractive and charismatic people you may have a slight unprofessional obsession with. Frankly, they're our heroes ... even if Garrett admitted to LARPing at one point in his life.

Have you played through the 1st game? You can get out of the loop with out even trying. What I do wonder is if you can drop a cube on your buddy...

I think it will be easier and more fun to just shooting portals under his feet or something. Less is more.

That's what I was thinking. Either limiting each player to a certain color, or forcing them to "share" both colors. What I mean is that if I fire a blue portal, then he fires a blue portal, it would make mine disappear.
I can imagine being in separate rooms and having to shoot through holes in the wall to advance each other forward. Like a maze where each player must take turns allowing the other one to advance.

Portal 2=Automatic, Instant GOTY contender.
Easily one of my most anticipated releases of 2010. Gosh, I'm excited.

As much as I loved the first Portal, is it really Gane of the Year material? There are plenty of better games. I think If you take out the atmosphere, Glados, and cake it would just be a slightly above average puzzle game.

you do realize you can say that about anything, right? if you take out the graphics and story of uncharted 2 then you just have a decent 3rd person shooter. i don't understand how this would make a game any less good, considering it actually HAS those elements.
portal 2 deserves every bit to contend for game of the year. personally, i think EVERY game deserves a shot at that title. and why not? any game that offers amazing game play and expands the limits of how i think about video games should deserve a chance, i don't care if it's a puzzle game, a shooter, or a platformer.

It still stings that as a PS3 owner, I WILL NOT get the play the second half of the Portal story. I think its only fair that if the first game is on both systems, then the sequel should also be on both.

Just get a PC. Valve games are good for it. Buy a new one on Black Friday for $500-600, then upgrade GPU every 2 years on black friday also, for around $200.

that's the nature of the biz. i'm eventually shelling out money for a ps3 to play demon's souls and GOW 3. maybe you should just think about picking up an xbox. if you're not planning on doing anything hard drive intensive, the arcade would do you well (and hell, even if you are, the usb hard drive update can at least keep you from buying one of MS's expensive HDDs).

@ David
oh man, Demon's Souls. Flat out one of the best games I've ever played.
Too bad Sony dropped the ball on that one and allowed Atlus to get the localization rights to it.

I felt the same way about Tomb Raider on the Sega Saturn. Always a bummer.

Portal 3 should have a gun that will incorporate the worlds of TF2 and HL2.

lol Macs don't have games, etc
Also, I'd argue that "PC" covers Macs too -- if it was a "Windows" tag I could see there being an issue.

Some people use "PC" to refer specifically to IBM clones which includes Windows and Linux but not Mac.
That's actually how I learned it when I was getting my CS degree; I only just looked it up now on Wikipedia to discover that other people use PC to refer to any old personal computer (though there was a link at the top of the page to "IBM compatible" computers).
