Ten-hut, soldiers! HQ has just sent word that some new gear will be shipping to the front lines of MAG next week, free of charge: the Trooper Gear Pack. In this parcel, we'll finally get access to the Flashbang grenade -- which should help us confuse and outwit the enemy. But, that's not all: our supplier, Zipper Interactive, also reports it's bundled in some new LMGs (Raven's APEX 100SE, S.V.E.R.'s RTK-74 Vla, and Valor's Mk 46 Mod 1) and uniforms.
The full rundown is available via Zipper's site, where it's also revealed that double XP will be available on the battlefield throughout next weekend (March 25 - 28). It's a nice bonus for our continued service, though we consider it bad timing. Operation PAX East will be in full effect by the 25th, so we doubt we'll find time to benefit from the extra incentive to hoist the S.V.E.R. flag.

I've seen some posts over on CAG that say Just Cause 2 will be $44 on launch day at K-Mart, so.. keep an eye out, folks! At that price, I may just bite.

I still find it wierd that people like it. I'm basing my views on the demo (which isnt the full game) but still I didnt see anything great about it
MAG is a new warhawk for me (man it would be great if it was downloadable) providing it keeps a good player base I will always come back to it. Even though may is going to be a blockbuster month for me and I think theres a few games in april aswell

I'm Raven. I usually play at night after work and there is always plenty of people playing online. I guess some people migrated over to Bad Company 2? I don't know but I haven't really noticed a decline in the amount of players.

I can't stand SEVR. The SEVR maps are by far the easiest to defend, especially their acquisition map which is virtually impossible if you are on the very far right trying to destroy their bunkers. Those are all aligned perfectly like daisy cutters and you only have these two narrow type of corridors to enter into and take them out. Valor, on the other hand, has by far the easiest acquisition map to defeat because they are so spread out . . . it almost seems like they don't even try to defend their map even though they obviously do. I know the Raven map is not all that hard to defend but that very far bunker on the other side of the drainage thing is really easy to blow up and always leads to that side of the map getting over run with baddies.
I don't play a lot of domination or or sabotage because I mostly prefer acquisition as I feel the player count for the map size is perfect. I've started playing some domination and it's always against those SEVR fcuktards who are the cheapest bastardos in the game. Once I hit level 60 and change factions it'll be to Valor and the last level 60 I'll try and get will be SEVR because I hate them so much.

As a warning to potential MAG players. MAG is full of people that have this crazy PMC loyalty.
It is a bit odd.

I've kind of had the opposite problem. Once I started MAG I couldn't finish Darksiders and after that I bought Dantes Inferno and could only play about 1/4 of it before I went back to MAG. The only game that was able to get me away from it for a long amount of time was Heavy Rain, which I played through and beat once. I played the first level of Bad Company 2 and maybe 40 minutes of multiplayer before my PS3 Phat got the YLOD and I went out and bought a slim. Since then, I've been playing MAG almost exclusively because it's the only game that saves its data on the servers so I didn't lose any progression. I would LOVE a cloud based backup solution from Sony for game saves because each PS3 marries the hard drive it formats with encryption. Thus, I can't stick my old HDD in my new PS3 because it will have to reformat the drive. If I had backed it up I could of restored most of it to the new one but alas I did not do any backups. Doing a reflow this weekend in the hopes it fixes it. Anyway, I have a copy of FF13 & GoW 3 I haven't been bothered to put in the PS3 because I've been playing MAG 80% of the time and MLB 10 The Show 20% of the time.
MAG has the best progression and set up I've ever played in an online shooter. It doesn't have the best graphics (kind of weak actually), controls (passable), variety of maps (12 total in 4 modes) but what it does right is makes you feel like you are part of a larger battle. When they take down that Anti Air Battery and you have to leave your post to fix it, exposing your spawn point in the process. When you have a squad working in tandem to win it's the most beautiful thing ever.

They put them up last week. They were originally DLC bonuses but Zipper decided to give them away for free. They are basically light armor that has a heavier armor rating so you are more mobile. The only problem is they use a lot of your currency points to equip.

Does the DLC include a game that doesn't suck?

great game in my opinion but I hate light machine gunners, their long range is too accurate when they run and gun.

What a majestic game this is! It's not often you get to see PS1 graphics on a PS3 release!

No one would give you crap if you gave constructive criticism. Don't just say "sucks". Say something like "Honestly in my opinion this game isn't great. The graphics were low part, etc". We do respect opinion here, but when you just come out saying nothing but it sucks, you can't expect to not be flamed.

I'm not angry at all.
This game got so much hype, some going so far as to call it a MW2 killer.
It looks terrible...nobody can deny that. And the gameplay is just not up to snuff for a next-gen game.
Some may like it, and good for them.
This area is for comments, doesn't have to be praise.

@Rhinosaur
I'm guessing you didn't like the game. You didn't like it because of the graphics and the controls? Thats the basis of your hate for the title? The graphics aren't great but calling them PS1 is sensationalist and you know it. When you have maps that large and that high of a player count it's probably very difficult to have super high fidelity graphics. The most important feature of an online FPS is lag. MAG has had zero lag in any game I've played in and I've also had zero players exploiting glitches *cough* MW2 *cough*.
It is what it is: a fun game. The game isn't perfect but thus far it's my favorite game of the year and its also my personal favorite online shooter of all time. I guess it does so many things well that I can look past small things like the graphics. On that front, the graphics aren't terrible or anything, they're just a little weak. If I had to pick between playing 12 on 12 with better graphics or MAGs 128 on 128, 64 on 64 and 32 on 32 I'd take MAG every single time. I'm sure they'll improve some things in the sequel but as it stands now the game is pretty much perfect except for aesthetics.

It's not like it was just a new camo pattern. They added a new armor type that really changes the gameplay and a new LMG and grenade will do the same thing. The game came out what . . . 6 weeks ago? I don't think content has to be out that quick to avoid a mass exodus of players. I'm sure they have some new game modes and maps in the pipeline right now. They've been updating the game frequently to squash bugs and stuff like that. I don't know, I just don't really see the problem with how they've been handling the game post launch.

Double XP will be truly awesome. I'm closing in on level 40 now and with Double XP I should be able to get up towards 60 by the end of the weekend.

let me get this out of the way, i really enjoy this game (MAG). BUT, I can't stand playing it with randoms. I just don't have any fun, once you've been playing with a squad/clan for any length time, everything else just seems lacking...
With that said, the few people I teamed with on a regular basis have all migrated onto other games for now. Not only that, but this month has been wicked in terms of quality releases.
So it's not my lack of desire to play this game that gets in the way, it's the over saturation of A+ titles.
