He doesn't know exactly when the third Killzone game will be announced, but SCEA prez Jack Tretton does know that it's gonna happen. When pushed by GTTV host Geoff Keighley about a sequel to last year's Killzone 2 on last night's episode, the Sony exec openly answered, "You know, we own Guerrilla Studios, and uh, they did a great job on Killzone 1 and 2 ... I don't know when you'll see announcements about it, but I can promise you a Killzone 3." Pretty straightforward, Jack!
Though he didn't make any promises regarding Killzone for E3, he did additionally note that the news from Sony out of GDC was "the icing on the cake," referring to big announcements at E3 this year as "the batter." And if there's one thing we really, really like, Jack, it's cake batter. You've won this round.

Time for a plot twist, with a setting change to go along with it.
Make it a more colorized setting, with scenery. Make it so that Helgan becomes a live planet again from place to place. Make it a prequel even.

Make it a prequel where you play as the Helghast, seeing as [arguably] they're the good guys.

I dunno, I thought the contrasting colors and art direction gave it personality.

Seriously? The color complaint again? I agree with Traceur that the greyish world was unique. As well it fit with the story. The Helghast aren't a healthy race. Haven't you noticed the masks? Have you even played it because the grey environment argument is old and tired

The ending to 2 pretty much confirmed it, I hate the ending though "woo we just killed them all, oh damn there are more who were waiting until we killed their leader to join the battle"
It was a little poop on top a cake that was the game.

Hasn't guerilla already said that they were working on KZ3 and that it was a good bit completed as they worked on it concurrently with KZ2?
That being said bring it on! I love it, the multiplayer is the best atleast in my opinion. Nothing like 16v16 teams working together and spawning on your squad.

Despite some controls that take time to get used to, Killzone 2 is a great game. It took me a little while to warm up to it but now I love it. The ending of 2 really makes me want to play the third. Can't wait:)

Get the damn burps out of the single player experience. A little birdie told me they identified the problem (it was pausing while they save the game). Now that you've found the problem, now it's time to fix it.

1) Splitscreen is a must. I understand you want a purdy game, but can't you have scaling graphics? When splitscreen is in action, lower the game's resolution to sub-720p, lower the texture res, reduce object draw distance, and whatever else you need to do to get it running.
2) Co-op! Co-op makes all games better.
3) Hire some writers. Give us dialogue that isn't rubbish, characters worth caring about, and a mature storyline.
4) Hire some decent voice actors. You put all this time and effort and money into creating a horrific theatre of war - but then the immersion gets ruined whenever a character opens his mouth.
5) Try doing something different. I loved KZ2, but it is true that it's a generic FPS. Do something to make it stand out.

It's not that the voice actors were bad, it was more like they had very little worthwhile to say...esp. our favorite friend, Rico.
I could swear he's almost in there just for the comedy value of colorful language.

Killzone was awful because of the controls, made the game entirely unplayable.

Crybaby. Mix the controls a little and you sit there in the corner crying like a little bitch.
Millions of people would disagree with what you just said.
Or maybe you just don't know the difference between fact ("was awful") and opinion ("IMHO, it was awful").
The game looked very playable to me, on all 3 playthroughs and tens of hours of multiplayer.

Killzone 2 felt more realistic with its weight added to controls it really felt like you were carry a load of weapons when moving. I liked the story and the voice actors were pretty decent even the online gameplay was good. I can't wait for Killzone 3 probably coming out next year to compete against Gears of War 3. I think GG should add a cooperative mode it would be fun to play as Rico and company in a campaign mode. It took time for me to get used to the controls cause of the cover system it reminded me alot of Rainbow Six Vegas.

I love Killzone 2. I think it's really underlooked and underrated. It did have it's control issues before the updates but they have since improved. The opening of classes in skirmish and the new control options are HUGE improvements for the game.

The only problem I had with KZ2, aside from Rico, was the weapons. Not only were most of them wildly inaccurate, but they didn't feel like they had any power. I'm not sure if it was just the guns or that the helghast had too much health, but either way, I felt like i was using a nerf gun.

SMGs were amazingly awesome for taking down several Helghans in CQC. The Assault rifles, not so much. I found assault rifles to be more useful at taking out those heavy armored troopers or even the arc trooper. The grenade launchers are amazingly fun if you can tag your target with it, as in, the grenade bounces and sticks to the enemy that you wanted to take out. I loved the bolt and electric guns, those two weapons were amazingly fun to play with.
Taking out the arc trooper and that crazy ATRAC were pretty fun. It's good to know that the game provided some pretty obvious tips on how to take down the arc trooper quickly. The ATRAC was... sort of silly since all you really needed to do was stand close to the edge of the little sheltered hallway, wait for it to show up in front of you, blast those electrical thingies, and then shoot the ATRAC with your rocket launcher.

Coming up with an alternative to avoid the problem doesn't really remove it. I'd really prefer to be able to kill guys with guns instead of just having to not use them

I wonder if they'll add vehicles this time. I remember before KZ2 released they said they would patch in vehicle maps - but they never did.

People might hate on me about this but please lets us have custom controls setup I guess it would be called. I have it stamped it my head to play as default setup on Cod and would be happy to play K3 like that. If so, i will deff buy 2 copies so I can play with my brother. Thanks

Killzone 3?? I think Guerrilla needs to look into a new franchise with gameplay like Gears of War. Sony needs something to combat that since Cliff Blezinski is a little fanboy. With Naughty Dog and others, they're owned by Sony and they are bound to Sony. Epic Games aren't. Microsoft doesn't own them so they can freelance wherever they want. But Cliffs acting like a little girl. He's afraid of the PlayStation 3. He owns one. He's seen Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and loved it and I bet you he's beaten God of War III already. So he knows it has more then enough power for Gears even. What's the deal dude? The controller excuse isn't good enough.

Killzone 2 was amazing on so many levels. Definitely looking forward to a third, to see where the story goes.

I'm very confused... didn't Killzone 2 underperform a bit? I mean it was hyped beyond belief and only seemed to deliver on the graphics side of things. There's less than a 1000 people a day playing the game online now. Sometimes you can't even find a game to play online wtf? Compare that to other major franchises like COD, Gears, Left4dead, Halo, etc which pull in hundreds of thousands of players a day and you can grasp the major difference.
The same goes for MAG and Resistance. They are very minor franchises in the grand scheme of things.

I don't think it did badly, it's just that a ton of people found the weighty controls for shooting to be unusable for MP (I would have to agree with that at least a little now, after jumping onto KZ2 a few weeks ago for offline skirmish mode).

Hundreds of thousands of people playing Gears my ass. Not anymore. COD? Of course. Halo 3? Yup that as well. MAG has a pretty nice following at the moment though. Every time I'm on the player count is around 10K people.

I really don't understand the whole weighty controls thing, maybe it's me but it was never an issue for me and I naturally compensated for it in about 10 minutes of playing

The papercraft and poster download bonuses for finding the hidden packages was an excellent touch btw. Makes you feel like you really earned them.

I just hope Guerrilla doesn't bitch out and make a COD clone I saw signs of this by some of the patches they released for Killzone 2. I still played 500 hours of the game, but some of those patches put the game a little back
