Today, a recent post on Daily Informer was brought to our attention, which reports that EA has decided to sue over a recent South Park episode, "Sexual Healing." The episode in question shows a mock-up of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, mixing in some ridiculous fighting elements (involving the wife he cheated on) into the golf sim portion of the game. It's really over-the-top, akin to the show's usual satire practices.
We contacted EA to get to the bottom of this, to which an EA spokesperson commented the rumored impending lawsuit is "nonsense." So, there you have it: EA is not suing over the episode. Nothing else to see here -- move along.

I was pretty sure it was nonsense. The original rumour was completely unsubstantiated by a 'source' of some basement blog.

EA already gets enough bad press without going after the South Park crowd. That would be akin to corporate suicide considering their target demographics.

South Park being sued is not newsworthy. South Park not being sued is newsworthy.
I have to admit, that's pretty awesome.

It's about South Park not being sued, which is apparently newsworthy.
South Park is sued every other week, and we never hear about that. It's not newsworthy.
My comment points out how that this is different from what one would normally expect and is therefore humorous.

I thought the episode was fairly dumb. Ever since the 10/11th season, they've been relying on exaggerated logical conclusions to guide their episodes. Sometimes it makes for a great show; more often than not though, it's just immature and juvenile.

That's...kinda the point of South Park.

I can agree that every other ep. has been about some sort of wacky conspiracy (which discredits those who point out the REAL conspiracies), but they're still consistently funny.

Why is South Park still on the air? I can't remember a time where that show was actually funny.

Because not everyone agrees with you. Some people out there actually like Nickelback, just as some people actually dislike South Park. It's the nature of subjectivity, and as such, not one opinion can be representative of the whole (rather, there is no whole, there's just the n amount of individuals, their individual opinions, and the one object they are formed around). Ultimately, the majority deems it should still be on the air (I count myself among that majority, to disclose any bias) . . . or still recording albums (I exclude myself from that majority, to further disclose any bias).

I think they are doing things more along the lines of Battlefield 1943 and the upcoming Dead Rising Zero (or whatever it's called). You get different content that acts as a demo or preview of this larger product. Like the appetizer sized order of ribs.
And like Temidien said, if you don't like it, speak with your wallet.

I wouldn't have been surprised if EA had PAID for that kind of brand recognition.

South Park is one of my favorite shows but it's really gone downhill in the past 2-3 years. From 2000-2005 almost every episode per season was pure gold, now I only find 1 or 2 amusing (such as "The Coon").
Let it die. Make Team America 2 or something.
