Hamster Ball rolls onto PSN this week

TikGames is launching yet another game on PS3 this week via the PlayStation Network: Hamsterball, a self-described, hamster-themed mix of "Marble Madness and Super Monkey Ball." As with other games featuring plastic-trapped mammals, Hamsterball looks to be a race through suspended mazes, with the goal of achieving faster and faster completion times.

In addition to the requisite single-player campaign, Hamsterball also features a two-player split-screen mode and a seven-player "sumo" mode. We're not entirely sure what "sumo" is supposed to mean, but it's true that the PS3 can support up to 7 controllers locally -- so will Hamsterball be one of the few games to actually support this feature?

Hamsterball will be available for $9.99 on the North American PlayStation Store this Thursday, March 25.

I bet you that sumo mode is like the one found in Street Racer...
Matter of fact, I'd like to see a PSN/XBLA release of Street Racer.

Is this game not available for the PC since like 2005?

You mean: "the first game"? Can't think of any other that does that.
Beatles Rock Band does 6 but actually doesn't count the vocals as controllers so, technically it's still four.

bomberman supports 7

Pretty sure some sports titles allow it. (As they do not require split screen in order to accommodate additional people.)

NHL, FIFA, Madden, they support 7 controllers locally (only on PS3 though).

I had a game on pc by this name. If the controls are tight and has nice trophies then I will get this for sure

Monkey target is probably the best thing ever.

Can't be as awesome as the original PC version. The screenshots look way too busy.

1 or 2? For some reason I seem to recall liking the first one better...maybe more interestingly shaped targets? Or more targets?

What a craptacular looking game.

The video makes it look like this is nearly impossible to see what is coming up on the track and your getting through it is just blind luck. And the ball bounces off the edges of the map anyway....so what exactly are you playing here?

bad idea + poor implementation = don't buy

Who is posting that they want to buy this game....do you guys work for the developer? "Oooo, this game looks awesome. I am picking this up on release day." And you just expect all the hasmters, I mean lemmings, to see that and they are going to buy it too? I hope other PS3 owners have more sense than that.

I'm a huge fan of MarbleMadness-type games: Marble Saga (Wii), Monkey Ball, Marble Blast, Switchball (xbla).

I like those game mainly because I spent so much time with Marble Madness back in the day. If it weren't for my interest in Marble Madness, I would probably feel that this game was stupid as well. I'm sure there's a market of people out there just like myself, who will also think this game is interesting. The trailer actually looks like Marble Madness meets Sonic, making it a day-1 purchase for me as well. Splitscreen ads even more replay.

Hamsters in a ball makes more sense than monkeys in a ball, but yeah...this is almost as bad of a ripoff as that Quantum Theory (Gears of War ripoff) that Konami is coming out with.

I seriously hope that's not the soundtrack. Because the music on the PC version was awesome!

The trailer looks alright.

But its really got me craving for a MarbleMadness sequel. NOW that would be awesome! Same soundtrack too!

If it's anything like the original xbox on the original xbox live arcade it'll be a day one purchase!

That trailer has an ugly color palette and cheap sound-effects. Please don't let that be the case with the final version ;_;

I remember this on PC years ago, very fun.

I'm a big fan of Marble Madness, but the high-speed Marble Blast style is not really my thing. I go more for the puzzle-solving style of Ballance and Switchball. Ballance is absolutely incredible.

But, going back to hamsters, I'm looking forward to Game Atelier's The Flying Hamster (PSP) quite a bit.

Yeah, who needs Rez or Ikaruga when games like Hamsterball are around.
PSN has been horrible, they seriously need to get their act together.

yikes... this game has horrible graphics even for a PSN game. I mean comon, this game isnt worth $9.99 its bearly worth $4.99 compared to the other games on the PSN!!!

I remember I had this game on Real Arcade when I was 10. It was pretty fun. I might just buy this...
