Renowned devs creating 'Big Name Games' for free WarioWare D.I.Y. DLC

Playing your own microgames in WarioWare D.I.Y. is great and all, but what if you could play 5-second microgames designed by your favorite developers, like 5TH Cell, Gaijin Games, and even Cave Story creator Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya? In the weeks following the release of the microgame creation suite, you'll be able to do just that.

Every Monday from March 29 through July 26, Nintendo will make new microgames in its "Big Name Games" series available for free download through WarioWare D.I.Y. The first offerings will include the game Yoshio Sakamoto showed off at his GDC presentation, as well as a game from Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai. Team Meat and WayForward are also contributing games.

Yeah of course we can play while i film, Haven't you seen Transformers 2? i don't even have to try and act and ill be nominated for an award.

in all honesty.. if there is a transformers 3, i doubt megan fox will be in it, not after the bashing she gave Micheal Bay, and the bashing everyone of the Micheal Bays crew gave her.

That's pretty cool actually. I wonder if you'll be able to download each creator's game after the initial spotlight... For instance, let's say you weren't around to download Pixel's microgame and the service has moved onto to someone else, will you still be able to download it? If so, would it be in a separate category, or would you need to sift through innumerable amounts of phallic-themed user-submitted trash?

I wouldn't worry about that - from what I hear, you can't download user-submitted levels at all (without Friend Codes, that is).

Sakurai's microgame:

a guy running towards a bad guy.

Press a to make him trip at the worst possible moment.

Not on only are none of those my favorite developers, but I've never heard of any of them.

5th Cell is Scribblenauts

You've heard of Metroid, Super Smash Bros., Kirby.

Those are reknowned devs? Wow....

What? Did you make anything like Scribblenauts or Super Smash Bros.?

Gaijin Games and TeamMeat i would give you, but 5th Cell was all over the news last year, and Sakurai and Sakamoto are quite well known.

I swear, it's like people want the makers of Gears of War to make a game here or something... seriously people, "renowned devs" does not = "makers of FPS, 3PS, or hack n slasher games". Though it can be vice versa.

Newell might, he actually acknowledges Nintendo's existence, at least.

Hopefully this will lead to a batshit-crazy microgame designed by Suda51. I'd get the game for that alone.

I think by definition, all micro-games on Wario Ware are some level of crazy. I don't know what kind of shit level, but it's pretty close to bat.

It's to bad the game is so gimped.

The only inputs are tap.

no dragging, no button presses, no camera, no voice, no scratching.

So? Camera sucked in Snapped, and it was annoying to play the DS one. I'm fine with just buttons.

No buttons. Just taps on the screen.

On a positive note, if the game does well I can't imagine it being that far of a stretch for them to release another version with a more diverse set of tools/options to work with.

Speaking of friend codes, how is it that I'm the only person I know IRL that even owns a DS? At this point, isn't that statistically improbable? What the hell?
