It's likely sales from all the foreigner consumers. Or maybe the US army in Okinawa made a bulk purchase.

When I was playing Bad Company 1 on Xbox (yes, it might not be as popular as PS3 but it still exists!), there were loads of Japanese players when I was online which was likely due to a similar time difference with me in Australia.

Sure, Western games generally traditionally tend not to do too well in Japan, but given a population of over a hundred million, the fact that a good game is a good game, and how popular the PS3 is, hopefully this means that more games from the West will enjoy greater sales in the future.

They were really good at it too, I think playing against a Japanese gamer is one of the most challenging tests around in gaming. Generalisation of course =)

Shouldn't Michael Jackson be proud of the presence in the list of not only Bad Company 2 but also the Badman game? The whole world has to answer right now.

MW2 is killing most games on the 360. Even Perfect Dark isn't that populated, and it just came out!

I assume you are having some sort of connection issues because the game is very well populated for me.

I don't have any issues playing in any game mode.

Got to remember 50,000 American soldiers are based in Japan, MW2 also has simular sales there.

True, but would those U.S servicemen buy Japanese copies of a game or import American copies of the game?

Actually, the Armed forces have their own stores, called exchanges. (PX or BX are nic names, depending if the store is on an air base or an army post). Those sales are likely not counted in Japanese sales figures, as the stores don't get their stock locally.
When I was stationed in Europe, I never bought games on the local economy, they were far too expensive.

I guess players of Japanese games don't want innovation after all. I guess that makes sense to some extent. No need for nostalgia when you're frozen in time.

You mean you people weren't aware that Modern Warfare 2 sold like 100,000 in Japan on it's first day making it the first Western game to sold that high on it's first day.

http://kotaku.com/5424064/how-did-modern-warfare-2-do-on-its-first-day-in-japan

Also what about Call of Duty 4 getting the PS3 the best (Japanese equivalent of Greatest Hits in US)

http://kotaku.com/5437121/what-budget-games-did-japan-flock-to-in-2009

and don;t forget that Battlefield 1943 was the most downloaded Xbox live game (and probably PS3 PSN game) in Japan.

So I have a question for you all...

I'm debating getting this game on PC or on PS3. I'll tell you my situation:

I play most of my games on my PS3, but right now it's being occupied by a certain girl playing MW2 (I know, wtf? And she's both good at it AND attractive, it's weird). I have a PC capable of running BC2.

So here are the pros/cons that I can see:

PC pros:
More play time
Better control (as far as I know)
Cheaper

PC cons:
Not on my 50"
Not through my surround sound
Other players are probably going to destroy me

PS3 pros:
On 50"/surround sound
I play most of my games on PS3
I'd probably be able to compare to the other players better

PS3 cons:
Girl has taken over the console
More expensive
Worse control (as far as I know)

Which does everyone recommend? Friends aren't an issue, because none of them are buying this game :(
