thats what I was thinking as well....unless there is something that can't be patched in then why even bother making a second one? LBP is a platform, and you can already do SO much with it

LBP is a platform, and I agree that it's an awesome game.
But it's not without its flaws.

For instance, while you can create danged near anything with its level creator, it's still waaaaaaaay too complex for most people to use. I would like to see a way to make it more simple, while still able to create something that's not terrible, and then leave the complex intricacies for those who like to make the reeeally good stuff.
Mod Nation Racers is an example of that mindset, simple enough to make something kinda fun, but with enough depth to really get into it.

There are also some issues with the three Z planes.

Sure these (and other complaints) could easily be patched, but, I think it's worth it to just start from the ground up, and completely redo everything.

That said though, all the DLC and created levels had best work on LBP2, or I'll riot!

yea i agree. there really isn't a reason for a LBP2 unless they are going to overhaul a key game component. other than that, the platform is set to build upon as is.

i personally would be open to a LBP2 too because i kind of got bored with it about halfway through mostly because of the 3 planes and often glitchy jump mechanics. i think i like LBP the idea more than i actually liked LBP. so personally i would be open to a LBP2 (especially if it breaks into full 3D platforming instead of 2D) but i agree they don't really need one.

I really hope they don't do a sequel. The DLC support has been really fantastic and If they can 'tweak' the game to do other things in future the possibilities are endless.

I would support the idea if they let us use all the DLC we've purchased. But really? I strongly doubt there's a chance of that.

It doesn't seem likely. Unless that's the version with Move support, but that's supposed to be an upgrade, right?

i think its time for a revamp sequel, they still have alot to do with LBP. they need to make online much smoother and easier to navigate and find what your looking for. It could also use YouTube uploading.

Although those are things that LBP could use, they would do much better as a patch. Don't need a full game to retry that. Media Molecule isn't EA or Activision.

The terrible online integration was the main reason I stopped playing the game. Getting 5 plays in two weeks after two months of designing, polishing and rigorously testing my level just killed the fun for me. At the same time, finding good levels to play was incredibly hard. 98% of them are either broken or incredibly dull. There were some gems though . . .

I wouldn't put it past Sony to make another LBP, considering it is widely considered one of the best games on the system.

But it's like Dan Leaver said, it'd be pointless to make another one because all of the resources that would be needed are already in LBP and if not they can just patch it in.

I cut my teeth on Mario's jump. That is the standard as far as I'm concerned. LBP's jump is closer to Halo than Mario and that, imo, is not a good thing.

huh idunno about there being a standard jump across all platformers, but, it's a little dude made out of burlap and stuffing haha. shouldn't he be a little floaty? maybe it would be cool if what you were wearing added to your weight

Better yet, introduce the option to change gravity when creating a new level.

I don't know why people are downvoting babyseatuna, I absolutely love LBP but the jumping has always been a pain. Especially when dealing with parts that require absolute precision, like that giant pinwheel thing in one of the later levels.

It's because I'm an Xbox fanboy and therefore my compaint, no matter how widely shared, means that I hate Sony and all of their products. This is the Internet, personal preferences don't matter, you are either wrong or you are right.

Incidentally, I agree with both Hyams and Space that I should be given the ability to adjust either gravity or my character's weight so that I don't have to try, and fail, to make the same jump 5 or 6 times.

I'd actually would love to be able to import my own objects, though that would probably lead to very very long download times and take up alot more bandwidth than with the system they have now.

But, being able to model something inside of 3DS, Maya, or SketchUp (especially if your a skilled modeler) would make me actually WANT to find the prize bubbles in community levels.

As of now... i avoid them just because most of them are crap, and they just take up space in the pop-it.

Unless they change the way the game controls, I'll probably be passing on LBP2. I love platformers, but hated the way LBP played. I think I got half way through it, and never went back.

If they do make a LBP 2,I really hope they make it a fully downloadable edtion.I know it sounds lazy but if I had LBP sitting on my hardrive,I would play it a lot more.Kinda like Burnout.

I do think that the franchise could afford a sequel. The community tools could use a dramatic redesign to make it easier to find good levels online, and the level creator software could also use a tweak here and there. Plus, if MM migrated over all the user created content from the start, we would already be looking at one of the best game releases ever.

If they want to do a sequel why not put all the new stuff they want to do into some paid DLC for LBP. It seems counter-productive to spend all this time making a platform just to make a new game.

I like the idea that LBP2 could be a 3D platformer version. That way you could keep both games going with support. I'm still hooked on the original, and while I'd probably take to a sequel, I'd jump on it a lot faster if it were a different game instead of just an extension to the 'LBP platform.'

Keep LBP a platform, just make it into two platforms. One platform the current 2D platformer, the other a 3D one. I'd keep supporting the original as long as MM did.

I think it was a mistake that's been taken out of context. He probably meant too or is referring to the Move support.
There is no real need for them to create a new LBP now. If the community and sales are still going strong, then ride it out as long as they can. They need to continue creating more level packs (like mgs & pirates) and adding new features that way to keep it fresh. They should come out w/ a few level packs a year. The gun in MGS and water in Pirates were great additions that made the series feel fresh again. Someone mentioned gravity control earlier.. That's also a great idea. The jetpack is cool but gravity would be a great feature.
LBP still has plenty of things they can do to keep the game fresh for another year or two. More and more people are going to get better at developing levels and even that will be enough to keep playing the game.

In LBP2, they need to make it a 3d enviorment w/ the ability to switch back to the side scroller in certain parts. It would add a lot to an already great game.

I dig LBP but we don't need a sequel. The next full game they make should take the whole create&play dynamic to another game genre like Little Big RPG, Little Big Shooter, or have them both in a Little Big Sandbox game.

Or how about Little Big Sports where you can make your own sports game: finally a Calvinball video game could be a reality.
