Fat Princess expands with two free DLC maps today

Have you made a date with the Fat Princess on PS3 lately? If not, perhaps this news will entice you to jump back on: a new patch today will add two new maps to the online PSN game. Frost Bite and Candy Mountain are both snow-themed maps, ripe for cake eating and princess snatching. This update will boost the number of free DLC maps to four.

It appears that with this update, Fat Princess will switch hands to a new developer: Atomic Operations, helmed by former heads of Titan Studios. It seems that they may be working on that long-teased pirate-themed update, as a recent post on the PlayStation.Blog ends with a "Yo ho ho." Of course, we could be wrong, and SCEA's Deborah Mars may simply be saying hi to some cream-filled cakes.

Congrats on the developer team, they have given away nothing but free maps since the game was launched. Yay.

What is this game like? Can someone compare it to other games so I can get an idea of what it's like? Also, are a lot of people still playing it?

I figure with all the free maps, it would be good to buy the game now.

There was a demo, might want to check PSN to see if it's still up.

Closest thing I can think of is TF2.
Being the PC elitist that I am, I must say that TF2 is better.

Even so, Fat Princess is dope.

Awesome news. After playing the demo for a long while i finally picked this game up last week. Its a lot of fun and I can't wait to give the new maps a try.

I still would like them to patch the game so you can sabotage enemy hat machines. There's no point in going over to their base in Team Deathmatch, and both sides upgrade everything relatively quickly.

Aren't maps supposed to be $3 each? Isn't that the standard now...

I agree. I refuse to play this game until they make these maps cost $3 each.

Woah, I was interested till "Have you made a date with the Fat Princess on PS3 lately?". I got mental images that I can't erase, and it'll probably take some expensive therapy to get them out of my head! Way to scar me for life, Joystiq.

O God stop reminding me of all the games i own and need to play, and stop showing me game new game that i need to buy to try.

For some reason I just haven't gotten around to trying this game. It looks fun though.
